About Artist
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Janette Ihnatova DengoBorn in Kosice, Slovak Republic, Europe in 1973 is a four times published illustrator, freelance& market place writer, journalist, photographer, award winning poet and an award winning artist. I came to Canada in 1986 after living in Austria for over 6 months, spending all of my youth and pre-teens in Slovakia. When I arrived to this wonder-filled country full of dreams, possibilities and most importantly FREEDOM, my entire life changed. Little did I know this at the time with the obstacles and challenges and learning a new language, that I would have so many wonderful ventures in my life and be a part of the universe in such a contributing and rewarding way. The next thirteen years were filled with numerous part-time jobs while finishing high school receiving my OSSD and a year later pursuing a college degree in General Business. I’m glad I made the choice for business as it has taught me how to succeed at Entrepreneurship while providing me with courage to achieve what I have thus far and will continue along my journey.
I became an entrepreneur in 1999 and the story of how it happened feels surreal even to this day. It just shows me that everything in life happens for a reason. It began with a car accident where my vehicle became a total write off while I had to undergo an intensive 3-month physiotherapy. A lot has happened to me in the course of 5 months that followed and one of those was quitting my job & getting married. In the mid summer I decided to venture off into a field unknown to me and became a desktop publisher while I played and experimented back into the art field. I designed and printed technical spa manuals and I loved it. I loved everything about designing and took on other side projects such as designing and implementing my own current website, began painting and illustrating again, illustrated and published a series of 4 children's story / memory books with a high school friend. The truth is I never rest.In the early part of 2007 I began opening and designing multiple online galleries and stores, where my artwork and designs are now displayed, viewed and purchased. Art and writing is my life and love, which is my everyday living and breathing. Writing is not just a profession it is part of my daily adventure and it is a passion. My family is my priority of course and my children take up most of my time with their sports and activities. Some of my earlier pieces were simple pencil illustrations, although to my art teacher they were glorious works of art. My art teacher Mr. Polman who was a fantastic person/artist, has later in life became my mentor. Little did he know this of course that his encouraging words of praise have echoed in my thoughts and visions for over 20 years until this day even though he's long gone now into the light. He persistently sent my art to our local gallery from which I did get many of my drawings back. As for my paintings, they were hung in our local Glenhurst Gallery and I haven't seen them since. Before I discovered I could write, I mostly focussed on expressing myself by means of painting, illustrating, photography and digital imaging. I always loved to write and found myself to be a thinker and am to this day. Stories and poems were always in my mind and thoughts, I just had no way of expressing them in writing of constructed poetic format the way I perhaps could in colour on canvas or through the lens of my camera with digital augmentation. Many times I felt as if I was in this timeless bubble and one day it would pop. When the writing bubble I was in busted, all my creative writing began flowing within my veins like gentle streams in river bends, who soon became full flowing rivers. All my poems and articles are published at my present primary publishing site for writers called HELIUM. It feels so wonderful to write whenever I am inspired by life and daily events knowing and feeling assured my work is protected by copyright by a professional site. I also love the fact I am compensated and rewarded for what I call my passion. Aside from being an artist, writer and romantic I always reach and explore beyond the limits of the obvious. Mostly I am a lover of life and mankind. I enjoy observing people and nature as I sense the essence of life on many levels and dimensions.Love for arts and passion for colour has opened my window to endless possibilities in exploring, experimenting and creating little masterpieces. I enjoy photography, painting, writing, illustrating, mixed media, jewellery design, sewing and constantly experimenting with different textures and colours. Most of my inspiration comes from the nature and the elements. I enjoy taking barefoot walks on the beach and love to hit the trails either by foot or bike, love to hike, camp and fish, watching sunsets and sunrises, and I love to have FUN and laugh to laugh some more... Did I mention that I love to LAUGH?The past few years have been simply astonishing to me, how I was able to achieve everything I did, while being a full time mom and a household manager. I have sold copies of my artwork and designs, illustrated and co-published 4 children's story books, had my photography in our local paper countless times, written over hundred poems ready for my next published book and assisted numerous people in altering their health, wellness and lifestyle. Bettering people's lives is accomplished by many ways. One is by distributing HEALTHY CHOCOLATE and also by simplifying peoples home with de-cluttering techniques with REFINED ELEMENTS, my Home Staging business. It feels truly wonderful to be alive and well, and have the privilege to live and enjoy life's beauty and live it to the fullest. One of the most important way I help people is by simply being myself. A truthful, loyal & kind hearted individual who says it like it is without sugar coating, providing friendships, advice and love. You see, I believe we each make a profound difference by our mere existence with and to anyone and everyone we come into contact with in our lives. When you stop and think about that for a moment and truly think, that is a LOT of people. I belive I too have a purpose just like everyone else in this world and I will do my very best by bettering it and contributing to it while I am here, and departing it by letting everyone else know Janette Dengo was here.I love learning and pretty much self taught myself everything to do with website building while spending a lot of time on the net. Networking and socializing on line during the day is a bonus for me and that is where I do most of my art exposure and also the HEALTHY CHOCOLATE - XOCAI Becoming health conscious has no doubt been a big part of my lifestyle, especially when I became a mom so the chocolate really blends and contributes to all of our healthy lifestyles. Connecting with nature is a must for me on a regular basis. In the summer months I love camping and sitting by the fire in the evenings to gaze into the flicker of flames while they do their enchanted and hypnotizing dance. During winter months I enjoy skating, downhill skiing, tobogganing and most certainly building snowmen. My kids just love those. The best part of my life is no doubt without a heartbeat being a mom, even though it feels overwhelming and challenging at times to juggle all that I do and be a full time mom. I love spending time with my family and thrive to be the best in my children's eyes.In the early part of 2007 the SECRET has contributed tremendously to my awakening and in the pursuit of happiness by embracing and exploring my talents beyond limits. I had a lot of things happening all at once, awakening, realizing certain abilities of life and discovering a lot about myself, which at the time was a bit overwhelming and now feels smoother and balanced. My family is the most important thing to me, especially my two awesome kids. They are full of life and joy and bring me daily laughter in all the silly things they say and do. Laughter is a must in my daily living. I receive daily inspirations into my emails, stay in touch with friends and “butterflies” (people who come and go in and out of my life) I meet on line. I love getting to know people. Once in a while I run across a person who I may have a strong connection with and similar interests, and these are our balance partners. Everything we do in life has a meaning. I don’t believe in coincidences. I believe in the unity of higher power or calling we all have some call it purpose, where we all have a distinctive reason to be here, right now at this very moment, doing exactly what we are. I also believe in SOULMATES and we each have many. It is such a fantastic feeling to be reconnected with a soul mate. I’ve had the privilege myself to find a few, each with a significant meaning and purpose in my life right down to my gifted children. One important thing in my life is my belief in the divine power. Some call it God, others have different names for this entity and I just call it my light. We are such vast energy beings, all with such high abilities that we are just beginning to tap into and awakening to see with an awe and wonder. I believe in TWIN FLAMES that which is our higher selves in a dimension unseen by the human naked eye. It is our sixth sense, our Ying and/or our Yang of the mere DNA balance we are composed from, that which we exist in another dimension, always seeking to reach it and to touch it. We come in contact with it in the afterlife or BIRTH - in the unity of blue when our two energy sources the positive and negative join and spiral into another awakening, life, existence and/or dimension. Some call this place heaven. Well, I think I’ve let you know a lot about what is going on in my head. I’ve had a huge awakening when I was introduced to the Secret in 2007. I’ve always known and never knew it was a secret this Law of Attraction. Also KEYLONTIC way of teachings based on the Guardian Alliances Freedom Teachings and the work of Ashayana Deane, even though I was brought up a Christian was baptised and love going to church. This way and method simply everything about it resonates with me and I’m so grateful for this reconnection I have made with it. It is just another perspective that I find fascinating and spiritually resonating. Finally, we are all here to learn what we are meant to. If I could give YOU – who ever you are reading this right now – a message today, it would be feel the freedom of life and taste it’s colourful flavours. Today is a gift, so live it doing what you absolutely love. Live it to the fullest, inhale the scents of elements around you, feel the essence of existence in the glorious seconds - this light, touch the Earth and smell it, hear the warmth of your blood rushing in your body this vessel you are borrowing and treat it well with LOVE. Don't forget to LAUGH or CRY if you must and do perform an act of kindness everyday. I assure you will LIVE LIFE to the fullest without regrets. Please make yourself comfortable and browse through my gallery of paintings, photos and digital art. Don't forget to have a peak at the healthy chocolate as well and all my ventures should they be of interest to you. Let me know if I can further assist you in anything and contact me via email at janettedengo_rogers.comHave a fantastic day. ~Namaste~

2009 Children’s Aid Society - Fundraiser & Silent AuctionIt was my very first ART SHOW held on April 18, 2009 at the Hungarian Hall in Brantford, and I was happy to participate for such a great cause. Months of waiting the moment couldn’t have prepared me for the awesome evening I was about to experience. The hall was packed with fabulous works of art and the event simply sold out. Walls were graced by water, acrylic and oil paintings of so many wonderful artists of abstracts, realism and impression art, while many folks brought their unique treasures and many antique pieces. It was going to be a night to remember. The day began with preparing easels, cards, labels, prices, stickers and of course my art for display. I entered the hall at noon, hoping to find a cozy little corner to set up at. Well, to my surprise the entire hall was already set up as the doors opened at 9:00 a.m. with no room inside except a cozy little corner as I anticipated, though right in the foyer. See, the universe is quirky like that and it always has a sense of humour. It was all right with me as the area was right near the double door entranceway to the grand hall, so beautifully decorated and lit with a brilliant huge chandelier in the centre over the table settings. When I saw this being the only spot to set up in, and as Fran Welsh the event’s co-ordinator has also suggested, I began setting up right away as it was possibly the last spot available. Who ever said the first is the best? This spot was perfect for me, as far as I was concerned. I was up and set up within 10 minutes, though ended up making two trips while bringing my own table as the one promised to me wasn’t available anymore. I brought two more pieces, which ended up being greatly admired by so many potential buyers and browsers. I entered a total of 7 of my works into the show and I was pretty proud of my humble creations. Me at the 2009 CAS Fundraiser As the evening approached I got myself all decked out for the Latino festival, comfy yet sassy with a bit of bling-bling, my evening pumps and headed to the hall. I got there early enough to make final touches to my display. My mom who is my best friend was there to support me all the way. As soon as I saw her smile as she sat there in the parking lot in her vehicle, I knew that everything would be just fine since I had the best supporter I could with me. The place was still fairly empty with only a handful of people. I started speaking with another wonderful artist, who also had set up in the hallway. What a gem that soul is, so personable and wonderful. Her name is ARLENE LASKEY and she is a fantastic visual artist. Her works can be found at THE BRANTFORD ARTS BLOCK where I am also a member. We had many intriguing conversations through out the evening, while we both admired each other’s artworks. I was also happy to see my friend and fellow artist VANESSA FRASER’S fabulous piece set up on the left of my display. Vanessa is more then an extraordinary artist, she has become a very dear friend and confidant, while she inspires me in more ways then I can say. She is truly an angel and is the reason behind this event being my very first show. I met Vanessa using Google while I searched upcoming shows and exhibits to participate in. Long story short, I will be in an exhibit put on by Vanessa who was the co-ordinator for the Charlotte Villa Retirement Residence 2008 ART SHOW and I plan to attend the 2009 November show. Now back to the evening. Another fabulous artist I chatted with through out the night was NICOLE C. ALEXANDER. Her works are incredible, rich tones Caribbean inspired art, oil on canvas. I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it. She was one lucky girl to have her art display set up nearly 10 feet away from the famous ROBERT CROSBY who’s works are just simply incredible. I could stand for hours admiring his fantastic photo-life/realism paintings. With so many fabulous art to see, there were few more spectacular pieces that which caught my eye and they were works by NALINI ALMAS. Nalini’s art is abstract by oil and acrylics, very “funky” as you will see when you visit the website and it’s right up my alley for both visual taste and painting preference. There was so much to see and admire in such a glorious evening. My only hope was to absorb all of it and remember the moment. As more guests began to show up, I realized that the three of us artists in the hallway had the best spots in the entire place. It was not only the best lit-up location to make our art vibrant and brilliant, it was also the best conversation area due to the loud Latino band that played excellent happy-feet music most of the evening. Now although myself and many other artists did not join the guests in their glam dinner, we did have complimentary seating with hors d'oeuvre and coffee or tea. This was very nice for those who wish not to participate in the dinner, which was quite pricey, however for a great cause to raise cash for the CHILDREN’S AID SOCIETY ENDOWMENT FUND. The CAS Fund sends over 350 children to camp each year and also provides post-secondary education to those in need. I was so happy to be part of this, as I believe our children are priceless. The evening progressed and while the guests ate their fancy dinner, my mom and I went out for a coffee and some fresh air. The evening was so beautiful and the warm breeze almost felt like kisses of summer on my cheeks. I was savouring every moment. Can you tell? Spirit of Eden by Janette Dengo At some point of the evening I noticed a man with oddly large video equipment near my art display. I got all tingly and butterflies were racing through my belly as I realized he’s some sort of camera crew and this event may very well end up on TV somewhere. “How cool” I thought! Sure enough as I approach to speak to him, who’s name was Eric, was in fact from BRANTFORD.COM and was going to be doing an interview in just a few minutes right in front of my huge and latest piece “SPIRIT OF EDEN” (seen on the left). Well, I was merely ecstatic!! Nothing else wouldn’t have made my evening any better, other then selling a piece so I could donate the 30% as agreed upon to such a great cause of course. The interview of Fran Welsh was about 10 to 15 minutes as I stood there hoping I would be brought into it. Nevertheless, I’m glad I wasn’t since I think I would have stuttered by my mere shock & excitement, through the entire interview process. When we returned after about an hour and half, the awesome Latino band from Toronto already began playing their soulful and upbeat music and the party was alive. The lights were slightly dimmed and the show went on at the dance floor. I was so glad to see many folks leave the actual hall into the foyer area, where they wanted to chat and browse the few displays, while I observed near by as they smiled, stared and pointed to few of my pieces in delight. It still makes me smile, even now. The feelings were of a little schoolgirl who is just so happy over the silliest thing, that at the moment means the world to her. What a great feeling to recollect and experience. The media footage below was published by Eric Lloyd from Brantford.com on Sunday April 19th, the day after the event. It was such a pleasure to be part of this event for such a great cause. I'm also happy my art was featured behind Fran Welsh and Leo Renzella, as they clearly stated the importance of the event for the children in need. As the evening wrapped up near 11:00 p.m. there were many people gathering into the line up right beside my display where they brought out their checkbooks to purchase their treasures they bid on and were taking home. I had slight hopes which were soon fading that I did not sell a piece. Needless to say I stood there proud by my work as they continued to peek over at my work and gave me smiles. Now this is probably one of my favourite parts of the evening. Shortly after the auction was over, about 11:05 p.m. I began packing up my work only to load up my van as the night came to an end. As I picked up my 5 smaller pieces of canvas, I had an immense familiar sensation called Déjà vu, as if I’ve lived this very moment before. I mean it was so intense I recalled seeing the 2 larger easels falling over before they did, and they sure did only 5 seconds after I saw them fall in my vision. Then, everything turned into slow motion as the sounds and conversations of the people in the line-up became muffled for a brief moment that seem to last forever. It almost felt like I was watching myself from a 3rd party, yet it was me within my body. I knew my mom would be picking up my display cards and business cards off the table and I saw exactly how she stacked them as they too flopped into every direction before she got a hold of them, few seconds before she actually did it. It was a surreal moment, one I will never forget. It left me in an awe state and simply tickled pink and fascinated. I said my goodbyes to the few art chums and contacts I made over the course of the evening and gave my mom a great big hug and a kiss, thanking her for her immense support and help. Today was the day my dream came true. I have been dreaming since I was a little girl to become a known painter and be part of shows and galleries. The feelings don’t lie and my gutt tells me this is only the beginning to a wonderful journey and I’ve only entered the gateway. My drive home was quiet, while I had only greateful thoughts for all the people in my life, who believe in me and helped me to make this dream come true. I gave thanks for the fantastic day I had lived to experience and for the mysterious exciting future that lights up my world in visions dreams. This article "Fiesta a great success" was published in the Brantford Expositor right after the fundraiser.Namaste~
ILLUSTRATED & PUBLISHED Books
This fun and colourful book series of 4, was illustrated by Janette Dengo and written by Robyn Dargie. My former business partner and I co-created these fun story keepsakes nearly 20 years after highschool years. The books were published in 2004 and vary in page counts from 28 to 38 on heavy stock for quality and durability. The books are also printed on ACID FREE paper to ensure scrapbook quality and preservation of the photos. They are spiral bound by complimentary colours. Our creations were inspired by our precious children who also grace two of the covers in a playful sketchlike composite. It is such a fun little collection to have. Please contact me directly if you’d like to purchase a book or visit our supporting Volumes Publishing and order directly from them. Thank you for browsing and for your support.

So deep is this level that it touched my very soul dear friend and inspired me many times on the same subjects. This is what I love about you Janette you are a kindred spirit who is on such a high level of understanding that I still am in awe of you. Such beautiful poetry. Heaven sent in this world you are! Without this computer I would have never found you dear lady. I really like your poem. Have a good evening.” Jamerson Rising “Your poetry is interesting - may I read more - perhaps you will keep me - from pacing the floor”Michael Granucci “You have a quite amazing portfolio (and not just on Helium). I only hope that one day I can be such a prolific and talented writer as you are.”Elena dal Friuli “This is in regards to your article on: Can God Exist “Great article. I love that you say God is not in the bible, those are just words re-written many times over the years, because as you said we are constantly learning. God gave us the universe to take care of. So far we have not really done that. The more people that believe the way you do the more we can learn the ways to care for what we have been given, where ever it came from.” Luann Shoup Dear Janette, I thoroughly enjoyed your poem under the subject "trees." I also submitted a poem in that category and found the sentiments in your poem reflected in large part my feelings about the symbolism I see in trees. Thanks for the poem; I'm looking forward to reading more of your writings I have neglected in the past. Write on! Sincerely, Tommy HayfieldI enjoyed the visual aspect of your poem, as well as the words themselves, Great Job. Teresa AiraHello Janette, Just dropping in to tell you your work is very inspirational. I viewed your U-tube of art and photography and it absolutely inspired me to give painting another go. I am a writer, poet and lyricist, have dabbled with sketch, and only ever painted sunflowers once. That painting was lost in this years Queensland flood, in which I lost my home. I am in the process of writing my experience as I am glad I survived along with my friends neighbors and dog. Your slide show there was very heart warming. You have inspired me. Best of luck to you in the future. Peta S.
