Many years ago, in the Eastern Kingdoms, long after the Sundering and before the Third War, the Amani trolls gathered in a great army and assaulted Quel'Thalas and Silvermoon. The high elves living there struck an alliance with the humans and pushed back the Amani trolls, practically wiping them out and destroying their temple of power at Zul'Aman.
But ironically, it was during the Third War that Prince Arthas Menethil succeeded in destroying the kingdom of the high elves and laying waste to Silvermoon. It would not be long before the alliance between the humans and high elves crumbled.
Over the years the remaining and renamed blood elves worked to rebuild their city and continued to struggle against the Scourge and the Amani. The Amani have taken the opportunity to strengthen their numbers as well.
During these times, a young blood elf paladin with no memory of her past or origin was sent forth from Sunstrider Isle to fight on behalf of the blood elves. In the greater world she soon discovered the evil side of the good, and the good side of so-called evil. She learned of the volatile magic her people had learned to harnass from a renegade demon, she learned the dark secrets of the blood elf warriors of light, she befriended a warlock with good intentions, and she soon learned that there are two sides to every story.
Realizing that light and shadow, like day and night, must co-exist, and having no memory of her own family, Avalyndrae set forth to find others of like mind to help share this knowledge - answering to the balance between dark and light - limitless and eternal.
Sun and moon, day and night, and the darkness and the light co-exist, with us between. They measure time, and with their balance we are able to glimpse Eternity. The Children of Eternity recognize that in our world there is no complete good or complete evil, but that we are all influenced by both the light and the dark. We pledge that despite race or class, we seek to find the balance between our good intentions and our dark desires, to understand the plight of others whether they be friend or foe, and to uphold our commitment that we war not out of choice, but of necessity.
We strive to uphold three basic and simple principles.
1. Individuality
We recognize that each person is unique, and has lived through their own separate experiences in order to form the opinions they have. Children of Eternity does not dictate to the individual what path they should pursue, for we know it is possible to go our own ways while remaining faithful to one another. We recognize that there is a reason or story behind the actions of other individuals, just as there is with our own, and we strive to understand the motivations of others before passing judgement.
As well, we seek to understand the actions of our enemies, and we respect their individuality as we do our own. We will war out of necessity - not blind hatred - not of our own choosing. We will fight when we must, and in our own defense, but always respect others.
Therefore, the guild is open to all races and classes. Members are encouraged to have their own opinions, but are discouraged from arguments amongst one another.
ii. Balance
Nature itself recognizes that there must be a balance between light and dark - day and night - sun and moon. We look to nature and our skies as our example of this concept.
We as individuals all come into being with certain inherant tendencies which direct us toward the light or shadow. Afterward, our individual experiences influence our opinions on and decisions toward the light and the dark.
Children of Eternity strive to realize this greater influence upon ourselves so that we may learn to seek a balance between our dark desires and our good intentions.
We also recognize that a perfect, even balance within ourselves and one another is difficult to achieve and maintain. This is why we must depend on one another and recognize the dark and light within one another to uphold the balance around us as we each struggle for our own.
iIi. Loyalty
In being true to oneself and recognizing the individuality of others, it becomes natural to understand a very important ideal - loyalty. In this guild, it is expected that if a person is able to respect him/herself, their enemies, and their friends, then that person is able to respect the guild as a whole as well.
It is of utmost importance that members respect themselves and their guildmates enough to represent well around others. One's actions always cause others to form opinions - whether good or bad, light or dark - and can indirectly reflect on other people which that person allies themself with.
In order to nurture healthy relations and positive opinions it is necessary to be involved and aware of what is happening in the environment you share. This obviously, and most importantly, includes the guild environment. Awareness of the guild environment is quite simple to maintain! It is just a matter of talking to one another and paying attention to guild news and bulletins. That is all.
By actively participating in the situations and events of Children of Eternity, and upholding the ideals thereof, one's loyalty is displayed. It is not necessary to sacrifice one's individuality -- only to strike a balance between one's own individuality and one's loyalty to the guild.
Respect is the simple thread that binds these three principles. Blatant disregard of the Children of Eternity ideals, or disrespect for fellow members or superiors, will be grounds for demotion or dismissal.
We are all horde races and classes. We will regard one another with respect. We will recognize the good and evil within ourselves. We will seek to find the good in all people. We will fight our enemies when we must, but respect our enemies when not fighting. We will endure for all eternity!
