So brutal and vicious is the attack that Lovemore and the girl end up victims of sodomy! Charles however is not so lucky, bearing the brunt of the seemingly senseless rage he is burned alive whilst wrapped in a tyre! Admist a political and racial storm that has erupted across the country, thee Detectives from elite Scorpions Investigating Unit are deployed to the small little town call Descent to get to the bottom of the atrocity. They soon learn that nothing is what it seems and that what lies beneath is a dark and petrifying conspiracy. This slow creative process happens once a month when Gerald spends a free night at the casino hotel. The story starts on one such visit, where we find him savouring the hotel experience; he is the part of a slick, seamless network of operations underpinned by ‘service excellence’. In his hotel room, Gerald suffers from writer’s block. This leads to distractions and finally takes him to the hotel bar. Here he gets entangled with a jaded yet sultry woman. But is she part of a nefarious plot to fleece him? Aben, an Indian South African who owns a take-away restaurant in Fordsburg, and Tariq, a Pakistani immigrant who makes a living selling freshly grounded sugar-cane juice from a street corner. That distance is shattered when one Friday afternoon an angry mob heads towards the exposed and terrified Tariq. As Aben watches through the safety of his shop, the mob attacks Tariq swiftly, ruthlessly. Their eyes meet fleetingly…This violence brings them together. Riddled by guilt, by desire, by the need to heal, Aben reaches out to Tariq. The performances have been developed by a group of eleven young musicians, actors and visual artists, with Anthea Moys and the American artist Geoffrey Hendicks, over a six week workshop period. The documentary has been made by Maciej Kwiecinski and his team from Trolleywood productions. We are proud to share the film of this project, which incorporate aspects of both activism and performance.
