Bio
"I categorize myself as an "Artivist", through my art I like to bring my activist subjects into light" - Jack Saddleback is an award winning Two-Spirited Transgendered Cree Artist from Hobbema, Alberta. He delves into many art mediums that cover such topics as Gender, Sexuality and Race however he is certainly not limited to these.Belonging has always been a big obstacle for Jack, moving from his hometown reservation of Samson Cree Nation at a young age to the City of Calgary. He's struggled with finding a balance between these two worlds. Being one of the only Colored kids as well as one of the only visible young gender variant kids in school, Jack's pursuit of happiness has without a doubt been a challenging one. Having partipated in the Youth Animation Project (Quickdraw Animation Society) and the Youth Summer Media Program (Metis Calgary Family Services); Jack has been able to take the skills he's learnt and put them towards winning such awards as the Youth by Youth Cinema Award for best short documentary at the Calgary International Film Festival and the Evoke Art Contest to present his work alongside The Canadian Museum for Human Rights to her Majesty the Queen of England.
