We are Huntingdon Rotaract, we are a group of males and females aged 18 - 30yrs old, we work hard and we play hard!
Huntingdon Rotaract meet once a week on a social basis, taking part in various activities like Meals Out, Badminton, The Fair, Cinema, Bowling, Drinks at the Pub, Laser Quest, Dog Racing, Quiz Nights, Jive Classes, Archery, Wall Climbing and lots more.
We also fundraise for Charities, organising the events that we want to organise, for the charities that are either local to Huntingdon, or close to our heart. These have been events like a Quiz Night, Ladies Night, 1950's Ball, Pub Crawl, Zumbathon and lots more.
On top of this we also help out in the Local Community, so if a local charity needs marshalls or bucket shakers we can help out, or even if a run-down area needs out help to clear up - we'll be there!
Above all Rotaract helps you, helps others, enhances your social circle and is fun!
Established in 1968 by Rotary International, Rotaract is a global network of young people who are changing the world with clubs in over 160 countries.
The purpose of Rotaract is to provide an opportunity for young men and women to enhance the knowledge and skills that will assist them in personal development, to address the physical and social needs of their communities, and to promote better relations between all people worldwide through a framework of friendship and service.
The Members
The President - Michelle
Vice President & Secretary - Helen
Treasurer - Alastair
Social Secretary - Hazel
I was Pudsey Bear 2yrs in a row with my Aunts Rotary Club when she suggested I joined Rotaract, on the 1st meeting I met an old friend from school, loved the meeting and decided to stay - 18months later and I have been on a Leadership Training Course and Egypt, all paid for by our sponsoring Rotary Clubs - and I won Rotaract Member of the year 2011-2012.
As Social Secretary, I arrange what Social Events we do, all the members say what they want to do and I organise it!
Here is what our other Members have to say...
After seeing rotaract advertised in suggestives, I wanted to meet some new people as most of my friends had moved away to go to uni. That was over three years ago and I still enjoy going to rotaract. Helping charities whilst have a great time with friends is very fulfilling. Having been president and district chair it has also helped me on a personal level to overcome the common fear of public speaking! I've met some great people at rotaract and I'm proud of the achievements we've made as a club. I recommend anyone aged 18 - 30 to join! - Nikki
Sarah Says - I joined Huntingdon rotaract because my friend Richard was president and kept nagging me to come along one week! My first night was a games night organised by Hazel and from that moment I was hooked! I already knew some people from school and everyone else was really friendly. There is a nice mixture of people and we do a large range of different activities each week. I also like the fact that I can be involved in raising money for worthwhile causes, especially in the local area.
I joined Huntingdon Rotaract as my Mum saw an advert in the paper and said that she used to know someone when she was young who was a part of the rotaract and it looked really fun. This was three years a go when I had just finished Uni, and the majority of my friends had moved away or stayed where they went to Uni. So effectively I was ‘new’ to the area, having moved back after 3 years living away at Uni. I joined also because I thought I would meet like minded people, who enjoy socialising but also giving something back to the community, which I’m pleased to say I did! I like that the group gels really well even though we’re a mix of girls and boys, ages and back grounds. It’s nice to meet other young people from the local area and try out different experiences/ survive different experiences! I also like that rotaract is open to all, no invites only etc. It’s hard to get involved in charity on your own I think, so Rotaract is a good vehicle for this and on a personal level is just a really nice feel-good thing to do. - Sophie
Emma Says - The reason I go to Rotaract is mainly for the social aspect. I find the people in the group, friendly and supportive. I also like to take part in the fun activities like bowling, meals out, etc.
I joined Rotaract as I was looking for a Social Group with a cause - and I love it! It's a fantastic way to meet new people, try out lot of different activities, have a laugh and raise money for charities! - Alice, one of our Newest Members.

Rotaract kindly approached us to offer their support and help raise money by holding a collection in 2010.
They were exemplary and were able to raise over £250 on our behalf by shaking buckets and dressing in our lifesize dog mascot costume in the height of summer!
They are now planning further fundraising events for our Charity and we can't speak highly enough of their commitment and enthusiasm to make a difference in the lives of the thousands of animlas that come through our doors every year.
