Arts Psychotherapy
My approach My Approach
As an Integrative Arts Psychotherapist I draw on a variety of psychological theories to support my therapeutic practice and approach each client as an individual, tailoring my practice to each client's specific needs.
For someone considering psychotherapy it can seem a daunting process. I hope to create a non-judgmental and supportive environment in which a trusting relationship can develop. This can facilitate new ways to explore problematic events and unproductive behavioural patterns from the past, enabling change, movement and growth.
Reasons for therapy Reasons For Therapy
Here are a few reasons why you might consider psychotherapy:
Not being true to yourself Low-self esteem Lack of confidence Relationship and Family difficulties Identity problems Issues around Sexuality Depression / Anxiety / Panic Attacks Life Transitions Physical and Sexual Abuse Emotional Neglect Childhood Trauma Fee: £ 50
Sessions are weekly and for a 50 minute duration
Why use arts Why Use the Arts?
Sometimes it can be difficult to express feelings in words and the arts can be invaluable in enabling this process. There is no requirement to be artistic to benefit from this way of working therapeutically and if preferred by the client we can work without the arts. In this case we will find ways together to develop a trusting relationship in which the past can be investigated more fully in a safe environment.
Anyone interested in Arts Psychotherapy can benefit from the experience. Engaging with creativity, imagination and symbol can be a welcome relief from the world of logicality and control; the invitation to explore both aspects of structured thinking alongside spontaneous expression can be empowering.
Arts psychotherapy might include paint, drawing, sound, rhythm, sandplay and voice, to name but a few of the art materials used to facilitate a more flowing therapeutic journey. This can promote the liberation of blocked energy and allow space for the client to work towards his/her identified goals.
