Pyrography means “"Writing with Fire”" according to Wikipedia. Essentially they'’re correct, though I prefer calling it “"Drawing with Fire”" as nowadays pyrography is much more than name plates and welcome signs on doors.
I specialize in portraits, though I also enjoy doing landscapes and I am available for custom work as well, such as logo’s or any kind of custom lettering.

My name is Iona Orbinski and though I am originally from the Netherlands, I have been living in Finland for about 4 years now.
Creativity is something that'’s in my blood, and I enjoy all kinds of creative hobbies ranging from writing novels and short stories, to landscape photography.
As a cabinet maker by profession, I enjoy working with wood. Pyrography is another perfect hobby which combines that with my love for nature and natural materials.
I strive for perfection in every little thing I create, whether it’s a photo or a piece of pyrographic art and I try to capture the essence of the person, animal or landscape. I hope that after spending some time on this website, you will come to like my style.

A portrait comes on a piece of pine or birch with a small hole in the back so you can hang it. Included in the price, a text, (e.g. date or names) or any other kind of ornamental decoration can be added.
NOTE: On pine, the portrait is one-tone "black & white". On birch, shades can be added for a more realistical image. Examples of shading can be found on the About page in the Gallery.
