Well what can I say about Burntwood that hasn't already been written in Wikipedia? Hmm. . . Well Burntwood lies in the county of Staffordshire around 25 miles north of Birmingham.
I have been fortunate enough to visit a number of places away from the UK over the last few years. There are many more that I would like to visit however, anybody want to join me?!
Over the years I have been to several parts of the UK and although I have been to locations abroad, sometimes you can't beat blighty!
Burntwood is made up of three main areas of Burntwood, Chase Terrace and Chasetown. Although large towns are nearby, rolling meadows and country lanes surround Burntwood with Cannock Chase, Gentleshaw Common and Chasewater Park only a few minutes drive away.
The town is also ideally situated for travelling to many parts of the country including Wales, Peak District and the East of England.
Burntwood is the proud home of the smallest park in the United Kingdom, St.Annes Church was the first church in England to have electric lights and more recently, Chasetown Football Club have enjoyed two successful runs in the FA Cup.
I have taken many shots in and around Burntwood, some even from the bottom of my own drive!
The first time I went abroad was holiday trips as a family to Austria and Switzerland in the 1990's. Of course this meant we had to travel through France, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg and Liechtenstein!! The scenery over there is out of this world and a visit to the Italian Dolomites in 1999 took my breath away!
School and University 'field trips' have taken me to places such as Chamonix, France and Noordwijk-aan-zee, Holland. 2002 took me to Tenerife on a field study with University which was amazing!
Holidays since then have included a trip to Tunisia (let's put it this way - I won't be going back there in a hurry!), Sweden in 2008 (which was not entirely to observe Swedish blonde girls!) and more recently, a brilliant opportunity to visit Colorado on a skiing trip which was absolutely superb, a great and memorable trip!
I look forward to visiting the US again soon as well as visiting places such as Canada, Iceland, Finland, Africa, Japan and many more!
Practically every year when I was at school and up until about 2001 we visited Scotland, usually at Easter, every year. This means that I know pretty much the Highlands and remotest of places like the back of my hand. Favourite places include the Isle of Mull, Applecross and Altass.
Being at university in Bangor for three years meant I was in the lovely scenic area of Snowdonia. As North Wales is within easy access from Burntwood I take frequent visits not only to walk but to also observe low flying RAF aircraft (which sometimes like to give me a new parting in my hair!)
Holidays and trips elsewhere include Devon and Cornwall, the Isle of Wight and the Lake District. I am also close to the Peak District and visit there occasionally.
