About me!
So a little bit about me then! Well my full name is Ian Stuart Garfield and I was born on the 17th November 1981, the same date as my Dad and Grandad spookily enough! Yes, that is my mugshot over there but I can't help it!
I was born in Lichfield, Staffordshire, but moved a few miles out to Burntwood in 1990 and have lived there ever since. I currently work at the 'prestigious' Q3 Academy in Great Barr, Birmingham, (we're still wondering what the Q's stand for, we have several suggestions). I also work at the Lichfield Garrick Theatre part-time; that is when I'm not working at Q3 and when not at glitzy, star-studded parties. . . . My office wall is adorned with prints, pictures and an assortment of oddments and people usually visit to see what's new up in the office!! I realised the other day that it is starting to resemble my University room with things stuck everywhere!!
My interest in photography comes from family holidays and the dozens and dozens of slideshows that I have watched over the years. My first SLR camera was a Pentax ME Super and was brought for me as a Christmas present in 1998. Since then I have owned a Canon 300v and a Canon 350D. This was upgraded at Easter 2009 with a Canon 40D and hopefully I'll have some shiny white lenses to add to that soon. I also own a Kodak Z7590 which is a superb camera but not very good for the aviation shots at high speed! My interest in aviation stems from my Father's own interest and I have carried on although I would like to add at this point that I amNOT a spotter, I DON'T write numbers down in a little book and I DON'T wear a bobblehat! I have my other pictures to prove it!
I have been lucky to visit some of the most beautiful parts of the UK and also several countries but I have a long list of other countries that I would like to visit including Finland, Iceland, Canada, more of the US, Africa and Australia. One travelling companion required, apply within.
As well as photography, I also have a keen interest in all types of music ranging from classical to pop, big band to rock, musicals to dance-stuff (from my University years, honest!). I also play bass guitar and am a founder member of the Lichfield Garrick Staff Choir! I also enjoy Formula One, the theatre (well I spose I have to, I work in one!), the outdoors, being in the country in good company (usually with my beautiful and lovely girlfriend, Laura), walking and movies. Some people say I was born in the wrong era due to my stupid sense of humour but I find Laurel and Hardy, Morecambe and Wise, the Two Ronnies and all that era of comedy highly amusing. I sometimes think our office should be renamed 'carry on Q3' at times but that's down to everyone else's mind working overtime. It really is an environment where you should think before you speak otherwise I end up in fits of hysterics!
So that's me, if you think there's anything else I should add, let me know! Oh and before I sign off, I would like to add that, contrary to popular belief/rumour based on the pictures on my office wall, I am not married and do not have any children - they're my nieces!
