About the meeting
Dear Colleagues,
Indian Institute of Chemical Biology, CSIR is hosting the 30th Annual Convention of Indian Association of Cancer Research (IACR) from 6-9th February 2011. On behalf of the entire organizing committee, I welcome you to attend the conference and enjoy our hospitality. This will also be an occasion to feel the splendour and grandeur of Kolkata.
We have arranged a strong programme highlighting both scientific and clinical aspects of cancer research. In addition to eminent scientists and clinicians from India, we have invited experts from abroad to join us in the conference. Please encourage your graduate students and post doctoral fellows to submit abstracts for the meeting as soon as possible.
The corporate section which supports research in the form of equipment and consumables will also be present during the meeting.
Moreover, you will also taste the richness of Bengali culture which has always made it unique in India.
I invite you all to attend the conference and make your stay in beautiful Bengal memorable. I look forward to meeting you in February 2011.

IACR Essay Competition (2011)
Since 1999, the Indian Association for Cancer Research has been conducting an All India Essay Competition which is open to post-graduate students and research scholars from Indian Universities and Research Institutes.
Topic for the IACR Essay Competition this year is:
Cancer Chemoprevention: Fact or Fiction
Participants (age <30 yrs on 31st December 2010) are requested to submit a soft copy of their essay (less than 1500 words) to :

so as to reach her by 16th January 2011.
The first page of the essay should have the essay title, name of the entrant and his/her institutional affiliation along with e-mail address. A certificate from the Head of the Department or Institution and age proof must be sent as separate attachments (pdf or jpg files).
As per IACR norms, winners of the 2010 IACR essay competition are not eligible to participate in the competition this year.
The winner(s) will be presented with a 'Citation and Cash Award' of Rs. 1000/- , during the 30th Annual Convention of the IACR at the Indian Institute of Chemical Biology, Kolkata in February 2011 and the prize-winning essay will be published in the next issue of the IACR Newsletter.
