A free language event, for anyone who either wants to start learning a language
or improve on their existing skills.
When: 7pm-9pm, Tuesday 31st August 2010
Where: Bowl Full
185 West Parade
Lincoln
LN1 1QS
On Tuesday 25th May 2010, the Lincoln Language Society will be launching its first monthly event at 7pm in the Bowl Full cafe, West Parade, Lincoln.
The event came about as local linguist, Katey Iles, identified a demand in the market for a different way to learn languages. Acting on this, Katey teamed up with Helen Shaw from HS Language Services in December 2009 to create the Lincoln Language Society.
Over recent years, with more people travelling internationally, the desire to learn foreign languages has grown. Many people are put off by formal classes, feeling that they are either too expensive, too much of a commitment, or are a bit intimidating. The Lincoln Language Society aims to make language more accessible to everyone, whether they are complete beginners or fluent speakers looking to keep their conversational language up to scratch.
The society will meet on the last Tuesday of every month at the Bowl Full. The evening will be free to attend and will be supported by Katey Iles, Helen Shaw and the experienced tutors of HS Language Services.

July Meeting
Another 20 language lovers attended our July meeting, with French, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch and Portuguese being represented.
Second Meeting
The second meeting of Lincoln Language Society took place on Tuesday 29th June and had 20 participants speaking French, German, Spanish and Italian. Looking forward to the next meeting on 27th July.
A successful launch night
The first meeting of Lincoln Language Society took place last night at the Bowl Full on West Parade. It was well attended with 18 people representing five different languages.
French was the main language spoken, with clusters of German, Italian, Spanish and English. The format of the event was very informal, with a lot of chatting and getting to know people.
The Society aims to bring together people who have an interest in languages. It doesn't matter what level you are at, we help each other along and learn from each other.
The Bowl Full is fully licensed and also serves food, so if you're coming straight from work you can get a bite to eat before the session.
Our next meeting will take place on the 29th June 2010 and we hope to have a few more languages present. We will send out invitations in due cours

About Us
About HS Languages Services
HS Language Services was set up in 2005 by Helen Shaw with the aim of providing language tuition and translation services to local schools, individuals and businesses. Helen started as a Secondary School teacher and became disillusioned with the system, so branched out on her own to take languages into Primary Schools. The possibilities with languages are vast, though, as Helen discovered, and she keeps increasing the services provided. To read more about this, please see Liaison Magazine, pages 24 and 25.
In 2009, HS Language Services became a Limited Company.
