Q. How long has HOOKY been together?
A. HOOKY have been together playing pubs, clubs, weddings and parties for more than 10 years.
Q. What kind of events or venues have you played?
A. Most of HOOKY’S bookings are private events such as weddings and corporate/birthday parties. They have played at many of Surrey’s beautiful hotels and reception halls as well as Brooklands Museum, The Trafalgar Hotel, Pinewood Studios, Twickenham Rugby Club, Sandown Race Course, Studland Music Festival (headlining).... to name but a few! They have also played at local pubs, clubs, golf clubs, leisure centres, football clubs...... HOOKY suit anywhere!
Q. How much does it cost to book HOOKY and what do I get?
A. As an introductory package, HOOKY provide two full sets of live entertainment including all sound equipment, lighting and effects. However, we are more than happy to work with our clients to fine tune our performance, set list, start and end times. We can also provide CD/IPOD music between sets so there is no need to book a DJ. Final cost will depend on your package choice, timings and travel costs and you should contact us to discuss your requirements.
Q. Do you have a demo?
A. HOOKY pride themselves on their professional musicianship however the distinguishing factor of the band is the amazing atmosphere, interaction with the audience and enjoyment that only comes from a live HOOKY performance. This is not something that can be captured easily on a CD but some sound clips of HOOKY can be found on the LISTEN page of the website.
Q. Do you always use the same musicians?
A. Yes, HOOKY always use the same line up. A dep musician would only be used in exceptional circumstances.
Q. How long does the band need to set up and will you be set up before the guests arrive?
A. As a general guide, the band needs between 1 and 2 hours to fully set up and sound check. Ideally this is done before the guests arrive or, as is the case at many weddings, when the room is being arranged for the evening reception. However, if you require the band to be set up before the event starts this can be arranged as well.
Q. What if my event/wedding is running over schedule?
A. With the best intentions and planning, you may find your timings change during the evening. Once set up and sound checked HOOKY can be ready to perform at five minutes notice. They are also happy to wait in the wings if your event is running late.
Q. How does the band dress and do I need to provide changing facilities and refreshments?
A. HOOKY dress appropriately for the occasion both off and on stage. Changing facilities would be appreciated but we recognise that this cannot always be arranged. We would normally retire to a quiet area of the venue whilst not performing. We neither require, nor expect refreshments or food to be laid on for the band but if they are it is much appreciated as HOOKY often leave home in the afternoon and don’t return till the early hours next morning!
Q. Can I see HOOKY live and meet them before?
A. HOOKY do play public gigs, please contact us for dates and venues and keep an eye on the website/facebook page/twitter. HOOKY meet and rehearse most Wednesday evenings and welcome you to come and meet us/have a listen by prior arrangement.
