Since 1990, Research Committee 50 of the International Sociological Association has been a forum where scholars in the social sciences and humanities have come together to pursue the multi-disciplinary study of international tourism.
RC50 is committed to maintaining a continuous academic dialogue on tourism at the ISA world congresses, interim conferences, in-between seminars, and newsletters.
Scholars interested in the study of international tourism are warmly invited to contribute to the discussion by joining RC50 of the ISA.
"Bringing together in simultaneity, in the scope of a single glance, positions which the agents can never apprehend in their totality and in their multiple relationships, social space is to the practical space of everyday life."

The RC50 unveiled its new website this month. The site, which can be reached via the RC's long-held website address (www.rc50.info) is intended to be a source of information for its membership and the broader academic community about the organization's activities and its tourism-related research.
The members of the RC50 elected a new Executive Board to a four-year term at the committee's business meeting, which was held during the XVII ISA World Congress in Goteborg, Sweden (11-17 July 2010).
