A brief history...

The Hillcarter Hotel was originally built in 1887 as the department store Hill and Carter and it continued in retail use for, approximately, the next one hundred years, changing in name to Blacketts and then Dovecot.

The building was renovated in 1997, with neighbouring buildings incorporated to restore the exterior appearance to its original grandeur.

It was completely transformed internally to provide a twenty six bedroom hotel, with a Rooftop Function Suite offering stunning views of Hartlepool and the Marina, several public bars, a nightclub and a 1st floor function suite with seating for 130 people.

Location...

The Hillcarter Hotel is situated in the centre of Hartlepool directly opposite the railway station, ideally placed for both business people and visitors to the area, with close proximity to the marina, the award winning Historic Quay and local multiplex cinema.

Hartlepool is very conveniently situated for captain cook country, the North Yorkshire Moors, MetroCentre, Beamish Museum and the Historic City of Durham. Durham Tees Valley International Airport and Newcastle Airport are only a 45 and 60 minute drive away respectively.

Our Rooms..

The Hotel comprises 26 comfortable en-suite bedrooms with remote control digital television, trouser press, direct dial ISDN telephone, hairdryer, room service and tea and coffee making facilities. All of our rooms also have free WiFi.

There are also two executive rooms, offering superior accommodation with additional facilities such as a corner bath and mini bar.

The hotel also boasts a luxurious executive suite ideal for long stays, newly weds or to celebrate a special occasion in style.

The Rooftop Function Suite..

A Sunday carvery is served every week between 12:00 - 15:00. The rooftop seats up to 100 people and offers fantastic panoramic views, through its picture windows, from one of the highest points in Hartlepool.

The rooftop is the perfect Wedding reception venue, fully licensed and offering a beautiful setting, a wide range of menu choices and outstanding service provided by our friendly staff, together with unrivalled views of the surrounding area.

The Hillcarter Suite..

The function room is finely decorated and provides the ideal venue for family celebrations, annual functions, Christmas parties, dinner dances, conferences - in fact any occasion.

The Hillcarter Hotel prides itself on its professional and friendly service, whatever the event. A wide selection of menu items are available to choose from and with every need catered for, by our experienced and professional banqueting staff, you can sit back and enjoy your special day without any worries.

Junctions Bar..

The light and airy Junctions Bar serves breakfast 07:00 - 09:00 Monday - Friday and 08:00 - 10:00 on Saturday and Sunday. Junctions also serves bar meals Monday to Saturday 17:30 till 21:00. In additon the bar hosts a large HD screen accompanied by 3 HD TV's, making it the perfect place to watch live sport.

Clubs..

The hotel complex also houses two nightclubs*, Fever and Nexus which come alive at Weekends - dance the night away 'till the early hours! There's music choice for everyone from 70's right through to Indie, Chart and Pop!

* Our nightclubs operate until 4am and all weekend bookings (Fri & Sat) are made with this in mind, as noise disturbance will be experienced until this time.
