Vi-Dieu Nguyen earned a B.A. in Character Animation from the California Institute of the Arts in 2006. Upon graduation, he was selected to partake in Pixar's first story training program, under the guidance of such veteran professionals as Mark Andrews (head of story for Incredibles) and Jason Katz (head of story for Toy Story 3). After completing the program, he went to work as a story artist on Horton Hears a Who for Blue Sky Studios in New York.
Vi then went on to work as a story artist for LAIKA Entertainment (Coraline and the upcoming ParaNorman). As part of the story development team, he was responsible for drawing story beats, exploratory story drawings, and storyboarding to develop upcoming film projects for LAIKA.
