I am an artist first. ..
and then a photographer. I continuously seek to capture the beauty that surrounds each of us every day, yet so often goes unnoticed.
My story...
I have been an artist since I knew how to pick up a pencil. My first love is art. As I grew up, I took as many art classes as possible, both in and out of school. I spent my Junior and Senior years at Davidson Fine Arts Magnet school. There I was able to focus my passion for the Visual Arts.
After graduation, I did not go to college right away. I feared majoring in Art at a University, due to the infamous stereotype of the 'starving artist.' Instead, I experienced life for a while. I tried a Technical Institute for Marketing, but that was a dead-end. Finally, I met a man, whom I still revere as my mentor... a Medical Illustrator by the name of Steve. After meeting with him only twice, I was convinced to enroll at the local University and major in Visual Arts.
During college, I studied and practiced painting, drawing, photography, graphic design and scientific illustration. After two moves and three different universities, I completed my degree. I graduated with honors in 2006 from Eastern Washington University with a Bachelors in Studio Art. I also displayed a series of watercolor paintings in my first solo show at a bistro in Spokane, WA in 2006. My work was featured in the local newspaper, as well as in the online publication www.spokesman.com and the Spokesman-Review's "7" .
Post graduation, my family and I moved to Northern California. For the next two years, I worked as a Human Resources Technician at a hospital in Marysville/Yuba City. During that time, I was given the wonderful opportunity to expand my skills in graphic design and photography, and assisted the organization with various marketing and advertising materials. I also continued to develop my skills in photography on a personal basis, and must give credit to a wonderful friend and teacher, Vishad.
In the spring of 2010, I began the pursuit of a MFA in Photography. This experience has given me a wealth of knowledge, skill and opportunities to explore my talents as a Fine Art Photographer. Currently, I am living and working in the Augusta, Georgia area. I am celebrating more than three years with this website and hope that my work continues to inspire others.
Thank you to all my family and friends for their continued support and encouragement; and a special thanks to everyone else who has helped me get this far.
