Established since 2006, the Hwa Chong Service Learning club has been serving the community through its many student-initiated projects, led by enthusiastic and passionate students from all levels. We envision making a larger impact on the community, and promote, within students, a stronger passion to serve the community.
The HCSLC collaborates with various external organizations such as the Ulu Pandan Community Centre Executive Youth Council to initiate and organize various CIP projects. Our wonderful Parent Support Group helps out too!

Learning how to interact with the elderly
The elderly is one of the main groups of people that require assistance from the society. If you happen to have visited old folk's homes before, you would realise that the majority can only converse in dialects such as Hokkein and Cantonese because many of them did not have the privilege of receiving English or Chinese education. Therefore, you may perhaps feel that it is extremely challenging to interact with the elderly and render them any form of assistance.
That's why the club has gathered useful information for you to learn basic Hokkien and Cantanonese so that you will not feel awakward interacting with elderly who could only speak these dialects.
We've also provided you with tips on starting and sustaining a conversation with the elderly.
All the resources can be found in this website.
