Frog Hollow School offers a one day a week program for homeschoolers ages seven to twelve. The curriculum integrates arts, music, social studies, and ecology into a solid core of language arts. Through a mix of writing, art projects, stories, singing, creative play, and outdoor exploration, students will receive a firm foundation in creative writing, grammar, literature, and mythology.
Frog Hollow is experiential and interest-led. As a mixed-age class, students work at their own pace in an atmosphere that fosters mutual respect and the joy of learning. Meanwhile, parents have a day to catch up on other things.
Frog Hollow will offer two separate classes in the fall:
9-3 Wednesdays in Carnation
9-3 Fridays in Seattle (North Capitol Hill)

As an interest-led, mixed-age program, the Frog Hollow curriculum will vary depending on the needs and passions of students. Each week will be a mix of writing, literature and storytelling, and creative inquiries into the world at large. We will also have at least an hour every week at the Arboretum to play outside, do nature studies, and get fresh air.
The curriculum is driven by the idea that excitement ignites learning. Teacher Becca Hall is a professional writer with over a decade of experience in experiential education, who is eager to pass on her love of language.
While the curriculum will build over the year, new students are welcome at any time.
Beginning in September, Frog Hollow will offer programs in two locations: Capitol Hill on Fridays, and Carnation on Wednesdays.
Registration is open now for both classes.

I was homeschooled/unschooled for seven years, including all of high school. Directly afterwards, I attended Stanford University, where I graduated with honors in English. I received my Masters in Environmental Writing from the University of Montana. I am now a poet and a novelist.
Besides doing my own writing, I love working with writing students of all levels and learning styles. I have taught poetry in elementary school classrooms, tutored high school English, and taught college composition.
In 2000, I founded Summer Winds Day Camp, an arts and nature focused camp located on my parents' farm in Snoqualmie. I create a camp curriculum that combines arts, music, nature studies, games, storytelling, farming education, and history, that has children returning year after year.
