This collection started after I moved house and discovered a hidden gem of an urban garden. Shortly after we moved, I began to notice all sorts of wildlife visiting the garden. and since then I have been quietly observing their interactions and behaviours.
Inspired by this window to a world of wildlife, right on my doorstep, in the inner city suburbs of Nottingham, I created this range of jewellery, celebrating the flora and fauna of the British garden.
This collection is based on stylised birds and their surroundings. The collection has a naive charm and is produced in a distinctively quirky style that is instantly recognisable.
The collection has a graphic, illustrative quality which is present in all my work. This jewellery is meant to be fun , everyday jewellery that does not take itself too seriously!
Inspired by my collection of vintage pottery and my love of a good cup of coffee, I made this new range of jewellery as a reminder of the simple pleasure of a good cup of tea or coffee.
My collection of vintage pottery has a wealth of pattern and surface design which I am continually drawn to. The theme of pattern features in each of my jewellery collections. Whether it is the pattern of the feathers on a bird, the veins of a leaf or the flowers on a cup , I find pleasure in the graphic interpretation of these patterns.
Tactile silver hoops provide the basis for this simple range of everyday jewellery.
The jewellery is designed to be comfortable to wear yet still have an individual style. The hoops on the bangles also provide an excellent device to fiddle with!
This is a glimpse of new pieces of jewellery I am currently working on. These new pieces are a continuation of my 'in the garden' range but are smaller and more delicate with more use of pattern.
Look out for more of these designs to follow.
