About

Peter Day, R.Ac., Dip.Ac., B.Sc., takes a gentle approach to acupuncture. He believes that the body will heal best when pain and stress are reduced, and so his aim is to keep his patients as comfortable as possible during treatments. After obtaining his bachelors degree in science, Peter worked in the field of sleep medicine. As he started to see the limits of Western medicine, Peter slowly became drawn to Eastern traditions that utilize a more holistic approach. He enrolled in MacEwan University's acupuncture diploma program where he graduated with distinction. While in school Peter received the Bethune Oriental Medicine scholarship, awarded to students who demonstrate strong leadership and who earn a high GPA. Peter has strengthened his acupuncture practice with Reiki, Qi Gong and Tai Chi training.

FAQ What is Acupuncture?Acupuncture is the insertion of hair-thin needles into specific points on the body, called acupoints, which stimulates a natural healing process. There are over 360 acupoints on the body. These acupuncture points are located on energy pathways termed meridians, which run from the fingertips and toes to the head and trunk. Acupuncture is one of the world's oldest practiced medical modalities. It is a safe, effective, drug-free method used to promote the body's self-healing ability. What does Acupuncture Feel Like?Most people shy away from the term 'needle'. But rest assured that acupuncture needles are quite a bit different than hypodermic needles that are used for injections. Acupuncture needles are extremely thin, approximately 0.2 mm wide. You should barely feel the needle when it is inserted. How Long do Treatments Last?Initial treatments, which include a consultation, take approximately an hour and fifteen minutes. Subsequent visits take about an hour.What Conditions does Acupuncture Treat?The World Health Organization (WHO) has compiled several studies that show the benefits of acupuncture in treating many conditions, including but not limited to:Pain: Back pain; sports injuries; tendonitis; headaches; carpal tunnel; hip, knee, leg, ankle and foot pain; shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand pain; sciatica; post-operative pain; TMJ; fibromyalgia.Mental and Emotional: Insomnia; depression; anxiety; stress; PTSD; addictions.Women's Health: Fertility; pregnancy issues (pre, during, and post pregnancy), painful periods and other symptoms related to PMS.Digestive Issues: Constipation; diarrhea; nausea; vomiting; irritable bowel; acid reflux; morning sickness.Many other conditions, including skin, eye, and respiratory complaints are also treated with acupuncture.How Many Treatments Will I Need?The number of treatments can vary depending on the nature of your problem.
