Our main focus is to use the energy calculators that are availiable through both the REMC and Duke websites to educate with. We believe that once the people/consumers see the information on the calculators it will help to make them more aware of the major energy users in their homes. This is an effort that we think will "Wake up the neighborhood," so to speak

We are planning to send advertisements out on the bills or in pop up adds with the electronic bills that will tell the consumer that if they fill out the calculator online, then they willl be eligible for a 5% discount on that month's bill. This should get some heads turning! Also, there will be a refer-a-friend option for additional discounts. Once finished with the survey/calculator, they will be given a page with a couple of little things around the house that can be done to save money and energy. With a little luck, this plan will help to reduce energy use throughout the area. If it works then we could work on slpreading it to other REMC companies and beyond.
