ABOUT ME
“Everybody's making horror films and, to me, not especially well. I don't know if it's (due to) the corporations taking over studios or what it is. But it really calls for some young filmmakers to come in and just do something from their hearts.” - Wes Craven.
Born in Atlanta, Georgia and named for Clark Gable (Rhett Butler) my roots run deep in southern culture. However, I was not raised in “ATL”, but 2 hours south in the quaint mining town of Sandersville, GA. I grew up on a small farm around my mother’s side of the family, riding horses, catching wild animals, and exploring the woods around me, making up my own scenarios with my over active imagination. Even as a child playing with my Star Wars, Ghostbusters, Ninja Turtles, and Batman action figures, I would make up my own movies I would even plan them out and rehearse them. These were in depth stories I would come up with that would utilize the original characters’ personalities and prior stories. The stories would have beginning, middle, and an end with a build up and climax. I did nothing but watch and study movies then go outside and play out my own versions along with creating completely original characters and stories. I grew up in a single parent household; my mother (a professional illustrator) having to work most of the time and me left to my own imagination when I came home from school, so I learned a lot of my life I was raised partially by my favorite movies. I guess what I’m trying to convey is how big of a part Cinema has played throughout my life. I WANT TO MAKE MOVIES
MY ULTIMATE GOAL
My entire life, horror movies have astounded and fascinated me. People have a strange fascination with being complete terrified, including myself. Being able to offer them this outlet is my biggest aspiration in life. For me, it’s not necessarily the fear factor that horror movies possess it's the amalgamation of every genre rolled into one; Love, Thriller, Action, Comedy, and Drama. However, the atmosphere... now that is where the thick of it truly lies. The mood a horror movie creates must be believable and comfortable for its audience. Creating this "mood" is what I want to do the rest of my life.
