About Us
Welcome to our website!
The Ha’penny Brewing Company Limited, operating out of the Cuckoo Hall Brewery in Aldborough Hatch, Essex is run by Chris Penny and Gavin Happé, two craft brewing, Real Ale enthusiasts, members of CAMRA and the Craft Brewing Association.
Craft brewing since 2003, we have developed a range of flavoursome and unique ales, brewed for you, our prospective and discerning customer, to sup and enjoy at your leisure. We have a keen eye on exacting standards, and use only the finest, traditionally malted barley, hops and yeast to produce beers of uncompromising and unsurpassed quality on a small scale.
In February of 2008 we decided that Aldborough Hall Farm, one of the last corners of rural calm on the East London – Essex border, with its giant willow tree and pond for the geese, was the perfect location to establish Greater London's newest brewery.
Having leased a former stable block, previously used as a commercial pottery, works of loving restoration lasting 18 months prepared the way for the installation of our 5.5 barrel brewery in Spring 2009.
The Cuckoo Hall Brewery, is named for a safe-house once used by our local Highwayman Dick Turpin and our ales are named after the great, the good, the notorious and the legendary of the City of London.
Please keep an eye on our website for news about our range of new ales, our Beer Festivals and events at food markets across Greater London.
We are presently only able to provide our ales in cask to trade customers, although we will soon be bottling and selling our wares from the brewery shop and on-line, please send us an email if you would like us to let you know when the beer will be ready for sale.
We have three cask sizes availbe: Pin (36 pints); Firkin (72 pints) and; Kilderkin (144 pints).
