Anhedonia

*The inability to experience feelings of pleasure or happiness*You said it was real, real like our love never was, real like the sun never felt on all those early mornings when you slipped out of this bed, unable to meet my gaze in the aftermath of all those things you promised in the night, all those lies you whispered in my ear with such conviction that I had no choice but lay down beside you and decide that, yes, this is love, this is really what eternity is supposed to feel like. So now as I fall forever, fall into this black abyss that you gently shoved me into, pushed me into with poison kisses and candy coated knives, I am reminded of what you said, reminded of the hours spent convincing you that there was a such thing as redemption, that there would always be a tomorrow in one way or another as long as you were willing to close your eyes and let dreams wash over you, let them push the past into the corner where it belongs and let me touch your soul in it’s most tender ways, to fill it like you’ve never allowed anyone to before. And I remember the tears in your eyes as you wished with all your might you could embrace my offers, you could feel the things that I was holding out for you to touch, but knew they would simply crumble and turn to ash in your fingers just like everything always did. So you built up your wall and trapped me inside with you, draining me of everything that was of use to you, ashamed of your actions but unable to stop, and when you were finished with me you threw me out with a cry, a sob filled with self loathing and hatred that you could no longer control, and you watched me fall from hope and grace and faith, you watched as every castle I’d built for you fell into the sea and when the final brick had turned to dust, you cut your hair off strand by strand, yard after yard of black silk mane, and made yourself a noose…..

Youthful Abandon

Bend the bright lights into tomorrowSwinging round the moonWith youthful abandonWe have no right to inhabitTaunt me, tease meTensely resting just out of reachUp on pins and needlesSlim lined and delicately invincibleHypnotize meTell me secrets I'll never rememberAnd I'll dream about your whispersGliding though my memoriesAnd when the sun meltsInto a burning horizon once againI'll caress your shadow To taste the fading moments Dripping off my fingers
There's plenty of time left tonightIf it's not too late for coffeeCome meet me on the cornerThere's so many things I have to sayAshes drip from your delicate fingersSmoke circles your shy smileAnd there's a coffee stain on my notebookFrom our last meetingWith coffee and cigarettesThere’s no pressureA common thread, a shared addictionAn excuse to let these confessions flowBut the words never comeAt least not the ones that matterSoon our cups are emptyAnd you’re rushing for the subwaySo I wait for next timeDream of hazelnut and devotionCamel lights, laughterAnd the moment you finally Rest your head on my shoulder

It's The Way

Memories full of spinning wheelsCracked pavementAnd sun drenched snapshots of youMiles melt into infinitySwirling by with dotted linesSand and gravelWasteland dreams brokenBy silhouettes and ghostswhispering tales of honeyed kisses and heartbreakPicture postcards fade and tearForgotten words to people That never knew we were thereAnd no matter how many milesI watch the sweat glistenOn your sun burned shouldersThe sun never setsThe road never endsand our wheels spin on into forever

Someone spilled passionWhere the Spinning cloudsGrow,Like tornadosFrom treacherousLips Into your porcelain skin that glowsFlows,Laps at the edges, Till I'm swept into your wailing Wall,and tossed into waiting room Oblivion.Go write your message,Casting shadows on shifting landscapes,Till every drop of painis the whole of your heart Wind surpasses the speed of uncertainty, And clay feet crumble in dreams of fire.   If you stumble, seem to falter, Lever pulled  wind against your course  Pay attention to the epilogue  It's not the way I go  It's the way that you forget me

Hanging in The Air

Time has passedListen hard for signs of lifeBut there’s nothing hanging in the air nowExcept the echo of broken promisesI never had the chance to say goodbyeAll the letters said “return to sender”Red stamps bleeding, covering Your tear stained nameWhen I remember our goodbyeI remember this was “for the moment”Just till springWhen April showers would lead you backBut time never came, and dust settledOn blinds no longer peeked throughOn emotions no longer needed In this repertoireSummer had to go eventuallyIt gave you ample chances to come on the windAnd collect my pen scratched,Ink stained heartAnd now I fade with the fallThe dying leaves mark my trailAs I drag your letters to the riverAnd offer them to the coming winterI guess heaven wasn’t listeningWhen I called out your name tonightBefore the blaze of ink choked out my heart forever

I heard there was a secretWhispered gently within cradled armsTangled limbs and kisses stainedWith wine and infatuationI heard there was a moment,A glimpse, tethered to a falling starKept it in a shoeboxUnderneath dusty stairsI heard there was a danceLong after the guests were goneWith only the ghost of musicCreeping down from the ceilingI heard there was a letterFlowing words scarring paperMore blood than ink, Sealed with tears falling like rainI heard there was a promiseOf somewhere, someday, Sworn upon fading footstepsCarved into every memory
