Our first priority is the comfort and safety of your pet. We are well trained in how to handle nervous, young, old and first-time-in-a-grooming-shop clients as well as the seasoned clients.
We offer special evening appointments for pets that need a little extra one on one .
Full Grooming
Medicated Shampoo
This service is added to the Full Grooming or Bath service and is recommended for your pet if they have dry or irritated skin. Cost is $10.00
This consists of a HydroSurge® Bath, Blow Drying, Ear Cleaning/Plucking (if needed) Toe Nail Trim, and the Specific Trim to fit your Dog. Call for a Price on Your Breed.
Bath & Brush
Hot Oil Treatment or Remoisturizer Treatment
This consist of a HydroSurge® Bath, Ear Cleaning, Blow Drying, Brushing and Nail Trim. Call for a Price on Your Breed.
This service is added to the Full Grooming or Bath your pet will love this treatment. It will help protect their skin from dryness, itching, and flaking. Cost is $10.00
Dematting
Matted dogs present a special challenge. If the coat can be brushed out with minimal discomfort to the dog, we will do so. (There is an extra charge, however) If we discover the mats are too tight to the skin, or too extensive, the most humane course of action is to shave off the hair and start over. Hair does grow back! Then, we would be happy to show you ways to prevent this from happening again. "Humanity before Vanity."
Oral Cleansing
Have your pets teeth cleaned to help get rid of bad breath, plaque, and tartar build up.
Cost is $10.00
Hand Stripping
Nails
Hand stripping" as opposed to clipper and scissor styling is a specialized skill. Do not expect all professional groomers to be skilled hand strippers. We encourage the pet owner desiring the hand strip technique to inquire about the groomer's skill level and experience with hand stripping. Our Hourly Rate for Hand Stripping is $60.00 per hour with a one hour minimum.
It is important to remember that untrimmed nails can cause a variety of problems from scratched up floors for you to deformed feet and back problems for your pet. In some cases, they will actually grow back into the dog's feet.
A good indication that nails are too long is a telltale "click-click-click" when walking on uncarpeted areas.
Cost is $10.00 cut only and $15.00 for a cut and file
About Us Our Staff
Cheryl A Purcell NCMG - Owner
Her grooming career started in 1991. A Nationally Certified Master Groomer, Cheryl is known nationally and internationally as one of the industries top Groomers. She has been successfully competing and winning at grooming competitions since 1993, with major wins including, Multiple “Best-In-Show” wins and multiple “Best all around” wins. A current and prior member of the 02, 03, 04, 05, 06 and 07 Groom Team USA (a group composed of the top 10 groomers in this country). Cheryl also severed on the Board of NEPGP (New England Pet Grooming Professionals) for several years, and was the 2005 Groom Team Liaison.
Ron Purcell - Owner
He got into dogs after marry Cheryl. He started showing dogs in 2001, and today has finished multiple breeds. Ron has also done a little compitition grooming in the Hand Stripping Class. Ron works at Pooch Paws with Cheryl.
In addition to grooming Ron is also and avid Scuba Diver
Krystal Purcell - Groomer
When Krystal was younger she began helping around the shop by bathing dogs and answering the phones. In November 2001, at the age of eleven, she started her competitive grooming career. She competed in the Oster Career Start, garnishing a first place over seasoned groomers. Since then she has won many first places and has gone best in show at both NEPGP in 2005 and Groom Expo in 2006. She has recently moved up a division and is now competing against some of the best groomers in the country, including her very own mother, Cheryl Purcell. She hopes to follow in her mother's foot steps and become a member of Groom Team USA. Currently, Krystal specializes in hand-stripping sporting breeds.

My dog is a small dog (min-pin) who absolutely hated it when I tried to groom him. I couldn't handle giving him baths, etc. so I started taking him to Pooch Paws a few years ago.....from day one I have been very satisfied with the service, how pleasant the staff is but more importantly how they treat my dog. My dog gets groomed every 6-8 weeks and when he leaves Pooch Paws he smells great, looks great and always has a cute little bandanna they put on him.
