This is my theory about the Giza pyramid positions. I hypophethize that the Great Pyramid represents the star Sirius, Khafre's Pyramid represents Betelgeuse in Orion and Menkaure's Pyramid represents the star Elnath at the tip of the northern horn of the constellationTaurus. The stars Sirius and Betelgeuse play a role in the resurrection of the king as a star in the sky, and are frequently mentioned in the Pyramid Texts. They basically served in a ladder-like manner to aid the king on his journey upward from the horizon to the region of the ecliptic, the path of the Sun. The king's soul passed from Sirius and Orion to Taurus, the Bull of Heaven. One of the Pyramid Texts reads:
Utterance 568.
1431a. To say: He is gone who went to his ka; Mḫnti-’irti is gone to his ka;
1431b. N. is gone to his ka, to heaven.
1431c. A ladder is made for him, upon which he mounts, in its name of "That which mounts to heaven."
1432a. His boat is brought to him by the d‘m-sceptres of the imperishable stars.
1432b. The bull (or, ox) of heaven lowers its horn, so that he may pass thereon to the lakes of Dȝ.t.
1433a. O N., thou dost not fall to the ground.
1433b. N. lays hold of the two sycamores, which are in the middle of yonder side of the sky,
1433c. which ferry him over, and they set him on the eastern side of the sky.
The image below, which enlarges when clicked, shows the correlation between Giza and the stars Sirius, Betelgeuse and Elnath in the Pyramid Age. The date shown in the imagei is the generally accepted time of Khufu, which is about 2585 BC, As you can see in the image, the Giza stellar depiction is intended to be viewed with the Great Pyramid closest to the horizon. Most people look at Giza in a "North up" orientation, so this may seem counterintuitive to some. The southern sky is where the Egyptians found the most interesting stars and constellations, like Sirius and Orion.
In my opinion, Giza is a depiction of the three southern stars which lie in a line along the edge of the Milky Way like the Giza pyramids do with the Nile. You will also see that the constellation of Cancer is what the pyramids cluster around, with the Sphinx positioned very close to it while gazing East. This is all because this constellation was seen as the scarab beetle by the Egyptians, which represented the sun god Re, as in Khaf-Re.
