Traditionally community is defined as a group living in a local area. With the collaborative and sharing tools provided by the internet a community may reach across continents. Consider expanding your community with some of the free collaborative tools described below.
Google Documents - Users can create, share and collaborate on projects using word documents, spreadsheets, forms and presentation docments.
PbWorks - (Wiki) - Users can create, edit and collaborate on projects
Wordpress - (Blog) - Users can reflect, create journals and receive feedback from others.
Finding just the right websites can make all the difference in planning for that next great lesson. Try exploring the following sites when designing lessons for your classroom.

Rubistar- Describe the project students are to create and have them create as a class a rubric by which the project should be graded.
Animoto Introductions- Students should use a digital camera or the internet to find three pictures to describe themselves using as or like (simile). Pictures should be uploaded to animoto and descriptive text added for each (i.e. I am like the petals of a rose, soft to the touch.) This activity could be duplicated using any of the multimedia tools on the resource page.

Educational Games - Use educational game templates to create a challenging and competitive environment for learning and mastering vocabulary reviewing lessons learned or simply to explore a new topic.
Quizlet- Create a stack of question and answer flash cards. The questions and answers may be an introduction to a unit, characters in a story, quiz/test questions, etc. Hand students either a question or answer as they enter the classroom. Give them a designated time limit to research the response to their question or answer. Allow students time to circulate the room to find their student match. The student pair becomes the expert on that topic during discussions.

Bubbl.us - Have students type the main idea or top of study in the start bubble. Follw the main idea with the key points related to the main idea. Students should create subsets of key points when necessary. When the bubble is complete, depending on age group, students should compose sentences or paragraphs to demonstrate their understanding of the key and sub points illustrated in the bubble.
