"I am an artist in Southern Oregon, I make custom and carved pipes from unique pieces of burl wood."
- Ghangi
Each piece is a one of a kind piece of functional smoking art!
Pieces are selected from unique burl wood including wide leaf maple, oak and others to produce fine works of art. Each piece is selected by its unique grain and color and feel. I let the wood tell me what shape it has hidden in the excess wood. I proceed to use a variety of tools to get the basic shape out of the wood. Then comes cutting of the holes for smoking and loading. I prefer my pipes to have a "free draw" so I make the carb. and smoking hole larger than most pipes you will see. The pipes are finished in high quality clear plastic coating after being hand sanded for days. I find this method provides a long lasting view of the fine grains the wood has exposed.
"Burl Wood Smoking Art" pipes have been featured in burl wood galleries and have sold for up to $80-$100 for some of my finer pieces.
