Thanks to all who attended the first meeting. Please see the e-mailed minutes for full details--there were many new members, and a lot to talk about!
Keep in mind the upcoming trip to Maryland Saddlery for anyone in need of equipment--either September 11th or 18th, TBD! Also keep in mind our first show is Sunday, September 26th at Penn State.
Returning/New Riders planning on competing:
-join USHJA if you aren't already a member (collegiate membership)
- renew or fill out IHSA membership; print a copy for Janis
- club participation form on StudentCenter--ASAP, please!
Other things to keep in mind: We need a new faculty advisor; all team members must attend barn cleaning once per semester; Janis has a new payment policy--pay by the week or for the whole sememster at once, $35/wk or $350/sem.

Lessons
Coached by Janis Groomes, team members take weekly lessons in hunt-seat equitation at nearby Middle Creek Stables.
Lessons are $35 per hour and are arranged based on students' individual schedules. Riders without cars can carpool with other members.

The Gettysburg College Equestrian Team is a Member of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association, Zone 3, Region 1.
We are a club sport providing equine enthusiasts and riders of all levels opportunities to train, compete, and participate in team events.

Nicole D'Aleo, Class of 2009:
Next semester Nicole will be at Boston College studying Italian language and literature.
Megan Knauss, Class of 2009:
Megan, a math and computer science double major, will be starting her new job at the Vanguard Group in Valley Forge, PA, working in web development.
Brit Serio, Class of 2009:
Brit will be attending acupuncture school at the Tai Sophia Institute in Baltimore.
Team Policies
> Riders must have at least 1 lesson per week with Janis
> Lessons must be paid weekly
> Excessive absences may result in a rider not showing. This includes lessons, meetings, and other team activities.
> Riders must have a lesson the week of a horseshow.
> All riders must travel to shows with the team, unless prior arrangements are made with the coach. Everyone must stay at a show until the last team member rides.
> Riders will be evaluated during the first few weeks of the semester.
> Remember: Your conduct and personal appearance is a reflection of the team itself and of Gettysburg College, both on an off campus.
