A Testimony
My name is Brieana. I was born in June 2, 1988 to a 15 year old mother, who put me up for adoption, because her mother was also pregnant. The decision was made to give me up, because the family was unable to take care of 2 babies. I was adopted by a wonderful person named Regina Driskill, who has loved and cared for me since the age of 2 weeks. I have battled a rare form of cancer called Recurrent respiratory papillomatosis (RRP) is a benign lesion of the larynx and trachea. Recurrent respiratory papillomatosis (RRP) is caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), since i was 3 weeks old. Ive had over 70 surgeries. And the doctors tld my mother I would live to see that age of 5, but here I am, at 22 years old, cancer free, about to graduate from college. At this very moment i have a tumor on my vocal cord that cant be operated on, because it may turn into ANOTHER type of cancer if bothered. BUT I refuse to be defeated by it! I CHOOSE to live my life each day because GOD allowed me to be here for a reason! I used to feel angry because of my past situations ... I was in an abusive relationship with the father of my children and I was so caught up thinking I was in love and not putting God first, that I never realized he was only a seasonal figure in my life. From there my heart was broken by different people, because I was looking for llove in all the wrong places, when I smply just needed to wait on the Lord and I just felt like....why.....why couldnt I just have one thing in my life be perfect? I prayed to God for deliverance from all of my setbacks and when I truly gave my life over to him, I realized he was molding me into the person he wanted me to be. I lost so many friends when I was going through my lifes changes. People told me that I would never amount to anything. I was going to be a statistic, because of my situations, but Im hereStanding tall and with confidence in God, about to graduate from Alcorn State University . I thank God for everything Ive been through froom relationships to failure to having children, etc, because it made me the person I am today. I thank God for the Wesley Foundation, because I was battling a spirit of depression and suicide and it was my last resort. When I had nobody to turn to, God sent me to the Wesley and my life changed in the blink of an eye. Im so happy with life and grateful now. See, God puts you through things because he knows you can handle them. I truly believe in the saying "God wouldnt put more on you than you can bear". I dont know many people who could endure so many surgeries and remain hopeful and faithful to GOD....But HE saw that in me. Im not sure if this will help ANYBODY but just know you never know what someone has been through or where they have been...why they are the person the are or what they used to be. But Im here to tell you that God favors YOU! HE SEE'S THE BEST IN US WHEN NOBODY ELSE DOES...When our friends arent understanding...when our parents just dont get it...When your man aint acting right...When you just need someone to talk to..HE will never fail. My prayer for everyone is that they realize that everyday they are awaken to a new dose of Gods grace and mercy and no matter how much you have been thru...no matter who you were in your past...you will and can change! You are not stuck in your situation or defined by your setbacks...I will cut this short but im here to let u people know that whatever they are going through, if HE can deliver me.... HE WILL do the same for them! Once you truly encounter God and HIS will..Life will never be the same.
