National History
The Gamma Beta Fraternity was created in the Spring of 2000 at the University of Texas at Austin. The original nine founders intended to incorporate the culture of the Asian community and the values and morals of a family to create an unparalleled brotherhood.
However, due to complications with the University of Texas, Gamma Beta began as a student
organization. After many long nights of planning, the initial ideas of brotherhood and unity
changed from a dream to reality. With the dedication and commitment of these nine founders, the
Gamma Beta Fraternity was officially established in the Summer of 2000. Gamma Beta had their first
pledge class in the Fall of 2000, and with the Alpha class, began a tradition of brotherhood and unity
that has been and will be passed on to all future brothers.
Chapter History
In the fall of 2008, a group of young men from Texas A&M University contacted the Founding Chapter of Gamma Beta Fraternity, Inc. at The University of Texas in regards to expanding the fraternity to their university.
Once the Founding Chapter knew that the request was genuine, they sent three brothers to meet and discuss the appropriate steps for expansion with the Texas A&M interest group. During the following week, the interest group met several times in order to discuss at length the full weight and responsibility that came with the decision before them. This group of men consisted of three
juniors, one sophomore, and two freshmen. Filled with determination and ambition, the six men came to a unanimous decision to begin the New Member Education Process and establish the presence of Gamma Beta on the campus of Texas A&M University.
Under the direction of Expansion Director Joshua Kim, the six men begun their process on October 17th, 2008. After overcoming trials and tribulations, the six young men officially crossed into the brotherhood on the night of December 5th, 2008. On that night, Gamma Colony of Gamma Beta Fraternity, Inc. was established. After crossing, the six founding charters immediately begun the long and arduous task of carrying Gamma Beta’s ideals to Texas A&M.
Their Journey Continues......
The Asian Liver Center at Stanford University is the first non-profit organization in the United States that addresses the high incidence of hepatitis B and liver cancer in Asians and Asian Americans. Founded in 1996, the center uses a three-pronged approach towards fighting hepatitis B through outreach & education, advocacy, and research.
The Asian Liver Center conducts translational research by which our scientific research is translated into practical applications to improve human health. Research in liver cancer has generally received low priority for federal funding in this country, contributing to the current lack of effective treatment for chronically infected individuals.
The Staff at the ALC are committed to finding novel approaches to increase the efficacy of diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment through the development of a comprehensive liver cancer research program with an emphasis on liver cancer genomics, biomarkers, molecular targets, and investigational anti-tumor agents.
The ALC is currently working on a perinatal hepatitis B prevention initiative to design and implement strategies to prevent mother-to-child transmission of hepatitis B in Alameda and Santa Clara counties, where the combined population of about 3.2 million experiences some of the highest rates of chronic HBV and liver cancer in the US. We are dedicated to our clinical research and community research programs to ensure patients receive the most effective treatment and that our outreach efforts make the largest possible impact for a healthier community.
Through multi-faceted translational research, the staff at the Asian Liver Center hope to change national policies and the attitudes of healthcare providers towards HBV and liver cancer prevention through sound, evidence-based information from vigorous lab, clinical and community-based research studies.
We at the Gamma Beta Fraternity, Inc. at Texas A&M University, in cooperation with our brothers all over Texas and Oklahoma, strive to raise money and awareness about the Asian Liver Center across the Southwest.

Gamma Beta is an Asian Interest Fraternity that promotes brotherhood, morality, and high academic standards. Through social and academic life on campus, the Brothers of Gamma Beta strive to serve the purpose of our motto, "Making good men better."
2. Why should I join Gamma Beta?
Our organization provides a fresh atmosphere for young students entering A&M. Becoming a Brother of our fraternity leads to a broader network of friends across the nation, as well asl connections that will benefit you throughout life. Furthermore, the memories that you will build as a GB will fulfill your college experience, as it has been a milestone for all of our graduates.
3. What is Rush?
It is a series of events that allow us to meet interested gentlemen. During this time, we are able to personally meet you through several events and activities as well as introduce you to fraternal life.
4. How much is Rush?
Rush is 100% FREE! We provide the food, drinks, and fun, and all we ask for in exchange is for you to get to know us. There is absolutely no pressure in coming out and you may leave anytime you wish, or hang out with us as late as you like.
5. What is a bid and how do I receive one?
A bid is an invitation to membership in our fraternity. By coming out to rush events, you increase your chances of receiving a bid. Those that are granted bids will be contacted by the fraternity after rush is over.
6. I'm really interested because this seems cool, but I'm really worried about my grades. What do you think?
Gamma Beta takes pride in being one of the more academically accomplished groups of men, with an overall GPA that is well above the average. We have weekly study hours to allow our new members to get ahead, and an Academic Adviser that will guide you through your major and make sure that your GPA is up to par. Most of our graduates are now successful men, something that Gamma Beta will mold you into.
7. What makes you guys different?
We are often referred to as the Gentlemen of Gamma Beta. Our reputation, based on our high morals and behavior, continues our tradition of 'making good men better.' And although we've only been around for 9 years, Gamma Beta has quickly become the most popular and exciting fraternity in Texas. Join us this Fall as we turn men into the leaders of tomorrow.
8. Do I have to be Asian to join?
While we are an Asian-American Interest Fraternity, we have never taken race, color, or religion into consideration and therefore have crossed brothers of all colors and backgrounds. Our fraternity's core value is based on diversity and we invite everyone to come to our rush events.
