Our main aims are:
To maintain the Traditions and Customs of Scotland;
To foster Scottish sentiment by celebrating anniversaries and organising gatherings;
To encourage the participation and interest of other members of the Belgian and expatriate community in the activities of the Society.
59 Years Young
59 Years Young
Founded in 1952, we are a group that organises events and activities throughout the year for Scots and others living in and around Brussels who have an interest in things Scottish.
It is a club open to everyone - Scots and non Scots alike. Our events , we hope cater for those who know and that those that don't - they are popular events, and friendly and informal.
Regular events
Regular Activities
Every year we aim to hold the traditional events:
Saint Andrew's Ball
- around the end of November; and a
Burns Supper
during the last week of January.
We also organise two
Ceilidhs
- with live bands from Scotland - at La Tentation in the centre of town; a golf match for Scots and non-Scots alike; a summer
BBQ/dance
that is also our official AGM.
Instrument
Can you Play an Instrument?
We have a small group of musicians - violinists, drummers, flute - who have joined together to play Ceilidh music for forthcoming Ceilidh events. Can you play a musical instrument? Are you interested in playing Scottish music? P.S. We are particularly looking for an accordeon player!
Please get in touch directly with Murray Frick (murrayfrick_att.net or 0487 61 40 86) for more information.
By the way, the next Ceilidh is on the 7th October 2011, and the Saint Andrew's Dance/Ball will be held on the 26th November 2011.
