About Us
The Gateway Autodesk User Group was founded in 2004 by Brian Myers and Melanie (Stone) Perry, its first meeting hosted 22 people that learned about the latest AutoCAD release at the time AutoCAD 2005. Since then GAUG has hosted various events (with much greater attendance!) which has included demonstrations for the latest software releases, laser scanning, and new forms of construction technology. GAUG has also hosted various student events and became known for its very successful technology newsletter.
GatewayAUG today.
The GatewayAUG (which it is sometimes called because of it's domain name) is reorganizing today based on the needs of membership in today's environment. Gone are the days where publications and manuals were the best source of education on how software and technology were used. With the internet, understanding how to solve issues has become a much easier process than it was in the past. Today technology organizations should really reflect the BUSINESS ISSUES and networking needs of its membership. GAUG is adapting to reflect those needs. From panel discussions on the use of technology in Architecture, Civil Design, and general CAD to Pecha Kucha Nights for an interactive experience in how technology is being used and adopted, GAUG is here to bring people (and their solutions) together.
