During my Navy career, I attended Purdue University under an officer program. I completed my BS in Computer Science and was commissioned in January, 1970. My first tour as a brand new Ensign was on a guided missile destroyer home ported in San Diego. It was during this tour that I bought my first photography equipment.
During a visit to Yokosuka, Japan, I got a wild hair and decided to buy a camera. Having no idea what to buy, I asked my Chief for advice. With his guidance, I purchased a Canon FTB plus an 80x200 lens. I did little with this new equipment because I had no idea how to use it effectively.
It was during a shore tour in Athens, Georgia, in the mid-70’s that I finally got the bug. I took an evening class in photography at the University of Georgia which offered sixty hours of instruction for $15.00. The instructor emphasized compositional theories over technical issues. Consequently, my artistic bent was awakened. The camera and lens I had purchased years earlier in Japan proved to be excellent choices. However, the cost of film and processing was prohibitive. After a brief burst of creativity, I put the photo hobby aside.
With the advent of digital photography, I ha’ve begun taking pictures again. The negligible costs make being creative in this medium affordable. The Canon FTB, being outdated, is no longer in use. A few years ago I received a Nikon D5000 with a normal and 80x200 lens for my birthday. Living in the country, there is ample opportunity to use this new technology. My main subject interests include flora, architecture and landscapes. However, anything that catches my eye is liable to be captured.

10 Years In 3 Days
Reluctant Roommate
Next?
My wife, Lois, and I are co-screenwriters. Since we enjoy watching movies so much, we decided to take a look at screenwriting. In January, 2010, we began researching the craft on the Internet. Since starting this fascinating journey, Lois and I have learned much.
We have two screenplays "in the can." Click the buttons immediately above to peruse the loglines and synopses for the two completed scripts. On each of the script pages, click the bottom button to download Act 1. If you are interested in reading the rest of either script, go to the Contact page and send me an email.
The Next? button above lists the scripts Lois and I currently have in development.
Genre: Comedy Drama
Logline: A broken family is unexpectedly unbroken, maybe
A runaway wife returns to the family she abandoned ten years ago. She seeks a way to connect with her daughter, who she’s never known, while staying out of sight in the background. Her husband is about to pop the question to his girlfriend. The family has three days in which to overcome ten lost years between mother and daughter before the soon to be fiancé returns. The sister-in-law attempts to put the family back together by playing cupid. When the sister-in-law’s meddling backfires, the skittish wife again disappears.

Logline: An emotionally immune widow reluctantly agrees to one last blind date which ends up lasting way longer than expected.
The widow returns from her unwanted blind date to find her old, dilapidated home going up in flames. Her date manipulates the widow into staying with him until she can get on her feet again. What started as charity morphs into something much more for the date. Not, however, for the clueless widow who gets her insurance check and bolts back to her loneliness.
Two screenplays are in the works.
Dead Twice (Drama)
Matchmaker Society (Comedy Drama)
As is typical of creative projects, there is no schedule for completion of either script.
