UPC is a student run organization located at Frostburg State University. Its members have dedicated themselves to creating fun activites for fellow Frosburg State students to enjoy , including events like Creation Station, Movie Night, Live at the Lyric and the annual Spring Fest. UPC always looks out for the students' best interest, constantly striving to make memorable experiences within the Frostburg State community.

9/18/11 With school back in full spring, we're seeing a lot of changes on campus. FSU is now Smoke Free, and there have been some changes made in parking. UPC and the rest of SCI has moved it's base of virtual operations to a new site called OrgSync, where students should now go for updates. Here's the link: https://orgsync.com/36558/chapter . Stay tuned for plenty of fun, awesome events this semester! ........................................................................................................................................................................3/17/11 Alot has happened in the past month, and the weather has warmed up just in time for Spring Break. UPC has made alot of changes and launched an exciting series of events called Paws After Dark with success. As April closes in, staff at UPC prepares for its biggest event of the year, Spring Fest. We've also put out applications for employment at UPC. Just click the link at the top of the website. Have a safe and wonderful Spring Break! ........................................................................................................................................................................2/18/11 As the fourth week of classes wrap up, we've all started to get used to some changes in the new semester. Most notably, the brand new Lane University Center has recently opened up to the Frostburg State community once again! With a new building and tons of new features at our feet, UPC has put together some awesome events that utilize these elements. We were thrilled to see such a turn out at our first Paws After Dark! Many of you came out to enjoy the movie, Craft Corner and Bingo. We hope to see more students turn out for the next Paws After Dark installment, coming to you February 25th! The website has some newly added bits and peices, as well. Our Minutes section has been updated with recent UPC meeting information, the Contact section has been updated with a current address and email, and some new photos have been uploaded to the Photo section! More changes to come!........................................................................................................................................................................1/ 30/ 11 Welcome to the brand new UPC website! As things are getting a fresh start, we hope you'll enjoy some changes we've made. At the same time, there may be certain information missing or sparce sections for a while until the Spring Semester gets going. This section is dedicated to informing you of updates made to the site, what was done and why. Future changes will be based on your feedback as well, so make sure to contact us with suggestions and comments, either via the contact form on the Home page or through our many sources found in the Contact section. Below are the minutes from each committee's weekly meetings. This page is designed to let the public know what UPC is working on. If you have any ideas PLEASE feel free to stop by and attend one of our various committee weekly meetings. Or if you would like to address any ideas for future events or concerns you are always more than welcome to attend UPC's Board Meeting which takes place every Tuesday at 6:00pm in Lane University Center, room 234 (unless otherwise stated). Hope to see you there!Recent Meeting MinutesApril 5th I. Call to Order: 6:04 II. Roll Call: Raquel showed up at 6:08, and everyone else was present. III. Approval of Agenda IV. Presentations A. S.G.A.- Dodge ball tournament Wed 6:30-10, April 11 is the deadline for t-shirt design for the showdown and you could win $50. For the showdown for springfest, the teams have to be at least 5 people. April 17th SGA will be having a one year memorable event. V. Reports A. Executive 1. Fran timesheets, applications due, schedule for interview -timesheets need to be filled out in pen and you must total the hours. Applications are due this Friday, interviews are Monday 11th from 9am-4pm and Tuesday 12th from 11am-6pm and interviews will be for a half an hour each. 2. Jill comment cards, team building exercise, minute papers -comment cards for PAD were very good about 30 people filled them out 3. Lauren Event Proposals, lecture series -Event proposals are due Tuesday April 12th by the board meeting. You should at least have an idea of what month and a day you would like this event to happen. You must have an actual objective for what you are looking for the event. Make sure that these are descriptive - make your proposals are as if you would not be running the event but someone else from UPC would step in and run the event. -Lecture series- Everyone should attend this event in support- Deidra, Mandy, Maggie, Jill, Kenny and Eric have other engagements so they will not attend, but we would like for everyone else to come to the event for support. B. Special Events 1. Review Production schedules Lecture series, John and Domo are working and then all other UPC members will arrive at 6:45. PAD- Domo will send an email out for those who are working, you should report at 7:00 2. Spring Fest- we have a design for the tshirts that Mel designed. Edgewood will be having an after party from 9pm-1am (black and white affair ) C. Entertainment 1. Review Production schedules laser tag: staff will report at 5:00pm to the Aux gym 2. Updates- Tron, Eric will work Friday and Terrel on Saturday 3. Next semester- game night series, haunted house, talent night D. Marketing 1. Review Production schedules- looking between 2 different people for tshirts and will go with whoever is cheaper 2. Updates- spreadsheet on the promo items for springfest and their prices 3. Upcoming Marketing ideas/schedule/promotions- table promo, wheel spin, water balloon fight VI. Unfinished Business A. Paws After Dark 1. Casino Night- awesome, great turn out , prizes were good- about 100 people showed up and stayed the whole time 2. Card Wallets- not a good turnout at all, about 5 people 3. Pool Tournament- good turn out and people asked to do it again 4. Little Fockers- cancelled because the movie never showed up B. John Spelman- was interesting C. SGA Meeting Thank you Domo for stepping up and talking D. Bob E. Cat Birthday Bash- was very good, venders went the extra mile- everyone loved the creation stations. E. New York City Trip- very successful VII. New Business A. Employee of the month- Congrats Jill B. Open Forum- Thanks John for putting your profile picture as the poster for the lecture series -Thanks Kenny and Jill for your hard work on PAD, we would like to see more people step up to work events that we have instead of the same couple of people VIII. Next SGA Meeting 4/14 G. Relay for Life 4/15 H. Tron 4/16 IX. Advisor Announcements: Event proposals- you should be filling these out before the event even happens. The purpose is to have a guideline to plan the event, and then the evaluation is to reference the proposals. -Look for emails from Coop for events for next year, check the UPC email as venders and performers will be emailing soon. -Take care of yourself towards the end of the semester -In 2 weeks you will know where you will be placed for next semester -You will only get paid for office hours that you document, if you do not send summary reports then you wont get paid. We need to know that you actually did work for the hours that you put down on your timesheet. -Keep promoting that UPC is hiring, we would like to see some good students come through here X. Approval of Agenda IV. Presentations A. S.G.A.- $4500 for inflatables, will vote on Thursday for a possible extra $2500. Terrel will talk about bands with them after the meeting for springfest V. Reports A. Executive 1. Fran table sign up -There were some slight changes, so Fran will email out the revised chart so everyone knows when they work 2. Jill update on members, team building exercise -Members will start officially next semester so we will have time to train them. 3. Lauren reminder SGA meeting splitting between John Spellman -Everyone should wear their UPC shirt or Polo to these events, and I will send out an email regarding further information. B. Special Events 1.Review Production schedules- Dom asked a few more people to work and will email Fran a production schedule tomorrow by 5pm 2. Updates- Lecture for Wed is cancelled, John emailed the next two speakers to make sure that the time and location will be alright with them. C. Entertainment 1. Review Production schedules Movie Friday and Saturday at 8pm 2. Updates-Pool tournament Friday, still figuring out prize for that. Hopefully have Just Dance 2 for next week PAD for tournament. -April 14th will be laser tag 7-11pm in the Aux gym- will have production schedule next meeting, if you would like to work please email Eric. D. Marketing 1. Review Production schedules- Laser tag request came in today, will start working on that. Lecture for next week is being worked on. 2. Updates- Met with Lindsey on Promo items, just need a budget from Coop. Found a person to make a t-shirts, working on a design. 3. Upcoming Marketing ideas/schedule/promotions- Promotion table tomorrow for PAD VI. Unfinished Business A. International film pretty good turn out. B.Zen Zone- very good feedback from students C. Fran- Professionalism, Office hours summary format, 3-4 open spots, Position switch (April 12th/19th), Advising mixed messages -Please keep the professionalism up so that when you type emails up to vendors and performers we can keep a professional connection with them. -Office hour summaries should have the format as: Hello Everyone, My office hours ran from ____ to ____, and then what you did in your office hours. -We will advertise for positions at the month and we will have tables in lane lobby: will have a sign up to work the tables 2. Jill- Relay for Life, Members, event evaluations, Job descriptions -Raise money for Relay, there will be a prize to the person in UPC that raises the most -Please do not call them volunteers, there are members of UPC -You must do an event proposal in order to fill out an event evaluation -Please look over the packet on Job descriptions to make sure that you and your committee are meeting them 3. Lauren- Binder of knowledge, Intention forms you have one week to fill them, Leadership event at 7pm Atkinson -The White binder is the one you should be using for this semester, and the Black one is archived information from last semester -Please really take the time to think about what you want to fill out on your intention form. UPC is not for everyone and there are students that would be willing to help with UPC, so think about your work load before filling this out B. Special Events 1. Review Production schedules-No upcoming events this week. Maggie is working the Georgetown Trip 2. Updates- No updates 3. Spring Fest-There is now a map made up of the entire field, all measured out for where things will be placed. Looking for cheap reggae bands- $500-800 C. Entertainment 1. Updates- Eric is now in charge of tournaments and Deidra is in charge of Live Performances -Looking in to having laser tag next month -Game Show for next semester 1. Review Production Schedules- Due Date, Friday- Eric, Sat- Lindsey D. Marketing 2. Updates- Please send texts or emails to Kenny when you put a marketing request in his mailbox so he can let Melissa and Mandy know about it right away -Website is UP AND RUNNING!! Review Production Schedules- Mandy and Melissa are working on posters for lecture series, Mandy is working on poster for cyber bowling 2. Paws after Dark- About 300 showed up on Friday, and all of the activities were a big hit!! C. Harry Potter- Saturday showing there were 32 people D. SGA- Wednsday there will be a dodgeball tournament - Elections are ongoing and look for emails about voting - Soon there will be a stimulus, where you can come to SGA and ask for money; might be able to give more money to go towards Spring Fest V. Reports A. Executive 1. Fran- Deadlines- Room reservations, SMT, ex, April 5 due date for event proposals. -room reservations need to be in 10 days in advance. Wednesday is when information needs to be sent to Social Marketing. This Friday the exec committee will meet with advisors to mark off dates for next year that we would like each committee to plan events for. -New policy for office hours: Email Sarah, your committee head and executive committee a detailed summary of what you actually did during your office hours, with your time in and out. -Kenny and Maggie already sent in production schedules to Fran prior to meeting -After the meeting, employee of the month was voted on and will be presented at next meeting 2. Jill- Comment Cards, volunteers/members, event evaluations, Relay for life -reported on cyber bowling, most people find out about our events through facebook. We have about 18 people that would like to help and volunteer with UPC- Jill will be emailing them by next week with more information. UPC should raise money for Relay. -Dom, still is looking for any sort of help or ideas from FREE entertainment for Relay for Life for 5pm to 7am 3. Lauren- committee minutes, sign up sheets -Please keep sending your committee minutes to Lauren!!! B. Special Events 1. Review Production schedules-Maggie presented the production schedule, refer to New Business for more info 2. Updates-John sent out an email to all of the professors and asked which topic each would like to speak about. 3. Spring Fest-theme and time decided -Everyone will have a specific job C. Entertainment 1. Updates-Looking to have a "lunch at the loft", found a Jazz singer Crissy and Eric will send everyone the link to listen to her D. Marketing 1. Updates-Kenny has been working with Dom to have t-shirts and wrist bands for Paws After Dark. Raquel is working on getting a raffle for P.A.D. and picking up prizes. Coop needs to purchase the website so that can be up and running 2. Upcoming Marketing ideas/schedule promotions-looking to get a marquee in Lane Center for UPC events. Events that are on Facebook, send out invites to all friends in Frostburg Network to make events better knownVI. Unfinished Business A.Norahs will 17 people showed up, food was very good B. Paws after Dark- key chains and game tournament =J. Buddy showdown wasnt so successful- should probably stick to individual type games. We will have to start checking for student IDs now to make sure that they are actual students. This needs to be made aware to the students on facebook on the event page as well as on everyone statuses about PAWS AFTER DARK!! C. Burlesque- 12 people showed up, and others came in half way through. Didnt show the 2nd showing because no one showed up to watch it. Saturday was a good showing, about 20 people and a decent mix of people. VII. New Business A. Announcement of employee of the month- Dom received our employee of the month!!! B. Positive Polly list- Fran read off the list at the meeting and will email them to everyone after the meeting to have as well. C. Open forum Make sure to add that PAD is for Students only, and please invite all of your Frostburg friends.VIII. Upcoming Events A. Please keep the office locked- you all keep your belongings in there unattended and we dont want to see your stuff walk away.Make sure to take care of your belongings that you bring into the office D. Sarah shouldnt have to look through binders and notebooks to figure out whos they are. If you can fit your stuff in your mailbox then please put it in there. E. Other- Dom would like help or idea finding FREE entertainment (music) for Relay for Life- if you have any suggestions or ideas please speak with himV. Reports A. Executive 1. Fran (covering for Jill's portion)- Collect Production Schedules for upcoming weeks events, office hour reports, room reservations information -Dom turned in his production schedule for PAD this Friday. Fran handed out office hours summaries for everyone to look over. Discussed that 11 days before the event lane center needs to know what needs to be in each room you have reserved, and Steve Dittmer from Spotlight needs to know by Wed morning about events to have in the emails. 2. Jill-Comment Cards, volunteers, event evaluations - use the correct form -We went over the PAD comment cards, and we will go over cyber bowling comment cards next week -Make sure to email Jill about volunteers so that you can utilize them. 3. Lauren-Budget, committee minutes, emails -Committee Heads NEED to send their minutes from their meetings to me B. Special Events 1. Review Production schedules- Dom went over his for PAD this Friday to make sure that everyone understands what they are doing, and if there were any questions. 2. Updates- John emailed the professors about lectures and the first one will start March 30th and then a couple more professors can do some after that date as well. They are working on have Birthday Bashes in the lane center- still figuring out details 3. Spring Fest- No report, since Lindsey wasnt there C. Entertainment 1. Updates - Trying to have an artists for March 9th -For call of duty- Raquel will create a separate event on Facebook 2. They have white boards out for advertisement for PAD and a signup sheet for the tournament D. Marketing 1. Updates- Raquel contacted fuller house to invite international students to PAD. Raquel will be working on a raffle for Friday's PAD 2. Upcoming Marketing ideas/schedule promotions- working on getting athletic games to announce UPC events, Raquel will email Fran by the end of the week to let her know if this is a go or not. VI. Unfinished Business A. Movie- Terrel showed the movie, but is at NACA so no report B. Cyber bowling- 76 people came, it was a lot of fun and good turnout for the first one of the semesterVII. Movie- 2 showings on Friday and once on Saturday- Deidra will show Sat -movie will run past midnight, so Deidra will email Rob Webber to let him know we will need him to extend the time on the projector for Friday. Tickets for Georgetown on sale Feb 25 what is the marketing for this? - Email Maggie if you plan on going by Wednesday night or you are not going -Melissa has a poster done, just needs to be approved- she will email it to Maggie as wellIX.
