WELCOME to Friends of King Street Primary

"Friends" is all about socialising and having fun at a wide variety of events throughout the year.

In the process we raise a great deal of money for activities across the school.

With your help, we'll raise more money this year. So please keep coming back to this website where you'll find news of events - and much more!

ABOUT US

Our meetings are informal and chatty, not all stuffy or cliquey - a social event in themselves. Tea, coffee and biscuits are usually available. Like to join us?It's always great to get fresh ideas for events. If you're new to King Street we'd love to welcome you at our meetings. New parents are the future of the Friends and you may have valuable skills or contacts we can use! We are always looking to hear from people who would be willing to help out in any way and it is an ideal way of meeting new people who have the best interests of the school and their children at heart.If you could spare some time or would like to know more about us then we would love to hear from you. Friends meet a couple of times a term to plan and organise events. We are headed up by our "Chairman", Christine Parkinson (who also handles this website), "Secretary" Penny Drake and "Treasurer" Christine Robinson, other committee members are Angie Pugh, Clare Thompson, Michelle Iveson, Sharon Kitson, Dawn Belshaw, Kelly Carswell. and Mr Horn.

Summer Fayre

Summer Fayre - FRIDAY 24th JUNE 2011

Our Second Summer was a great success and the sun shone on everyone which always helps!Thank you everyone once again for all your support as you helped us raise over £700.Stalls included: The infamous 100 Square, Childrens Lucky Dip, Tomobolla, Chocolate Tombolla, Roll a Coin, Play Your Cards Right, DVD & Book Stall, Splat the Rat, Plant Stall, Cakes & Refreshments.Once again a huge Thank You to our Fabulous Face Painter, Dawn Belshaw from Glitterygirl Face Painting who supports our Fayres every year.If you think we could do things better and something slightly different, please leave yiour feedback in the "Contact" email.

Christmas Fayre - Friday 2nd December 2011

DONATIONS NEEDED for the Tombollas and 100 Square!Christmas is an ideal time to pop into the school when you have collected your children to get out of the cold and have a hot drink, hot dog or a delicious cake whilst supporting your Children at the end of Enterprise Week!During Enterprise Week each class make items to sell at the fayre and they get to keep any profit for a class treat. Santa will be visiting his new Grotto!The infamous 100 Square, Childrens Lucky Dip, Tomobolla, Chocolate Tombolla, Roll a Coin, Play Your Cards Right, DVD & Book Stall plus many more and last but not least our Fabulous Face Painter, Dawn Belshaw from Glitterygirl Face Painting who supports our Fayre every year.

We had a good response again for bake a cake and made £42.07

Year 3 & 3/4Days

Over the last year Years 3 & 3/4 have done bake a cake twice and made a great £95 and £80 each time

Year 5

Year 5 Days

Year 5 completed bake a cake last year and made £67.35 and its come round to there class again.....so watch this space for the date

Year 6

Year 6 Days

Over the last year Year 6 have completed two bake a cake days.It was Year 6 which kicked off our very first bake a cake day and made a great £78.50. They have just had there second day last month and made a fantastic £98 this time.Well done to you all!

The Children have a great time at the Disco's and don't forget all you parents/ carers get a couple of hours of "free" time!Halloween DiscoThanks to all your support we raised a very impressive £184

Bags2school A special thank you goes to all of you for bringing in your "Bags2school" bags each time we ask.For little effort from us all the last two collections have raised:October 2010 - £88April 2011 - £40October 2011 - We are still waiting for this figure to come throughWatch this space for the next collection date!

100 Club

Proposal of 100 Club

Another fundraising idea which we are thinking about is the 100 Club.For us to be able to do this we need 100 members who all pay a yearly amount of just £12.If we can get 100 member then the draws would be:Monthly Prize draws:  1st Prize £20 2nd Prize £10Christmas Draw: 1st Prize £75 2nd Prize £30  3rd Prize £15 If your interested please fill in the contact form with your details

SPEND! SPEND! SPEND!

There's nothing Friends like doing more than spending money!!So it was out with our chequebook for the biggest spending spree we've ever had!!2010£1,340 for the KS1 porch refurbishment £1,500 towards the Activity Trail£1,340 for the KS2 porch refurbishment2011£240 in the Community Room getting ready for the start of the new Breakfast Club£140 towards a cooker and baking equipment for the children£240 for a TV/DVD for KS1 area£215 for Year 6 who now have 15 sets of reading books for their curriculumWe are amazed at your generosity and looking forward to spending more in the school!!
