Gobbledegook creates interactive video installations for children and their families. We explore different interactive technologies to enable audiences to have a fun and completely unique experience.

The company was founded in 2009 by artists Frauke Franz and Sean Westgate. We work in close collaboration with nurseries, schools, community groups and established artists.

A magical new interactive experience For under fives and their familiesThe Beetlebuns are extremely shy creatures but they are great fun and full of surprises. Come and let them show you their planet full of weird and wonderful things where crazy machines turn and magical trees blossom.Hop onto our carpet and watch how digital characters and objects start to react to your every move. Motion capture cameras enable images to be triggered by the children in real time.Planet Of The Beetlebuns is designed and created especially with babies and children under five in mind. Join Gobbledegook to play, explore, delight, create, interfere, or just watch and see how projected stories develop in front of you.Designed and created by Sean Westgate and Frauke Franz, visual artwork by Sebastien Braun with Children of Fernbank Childrens Centre, sound design by Alisdair McGregor, produced by Joanna RawlinsonRunning time: 35 min as a show or continuously as an installation Supported by Chats Palace and developed with children at Fernbank Childrens Centre

FRAUKE FRANZ - Artistic DirectorFrauke studied dramaturgy in Berlin. She was the dramaturg for Primitive Science (developing Invisible College for the Salzburg Festival), assistant to Tom Morris at BAC from 2001-2002 and the in-house dramaturg for Polka Theatre from 2003-2007 (developing their new writing scheme Playgrounding). Frauke works as a dramaturg for Sandra-Harnish-Lacey Dance Company, Out of Inc/Sinead Rushe, Leikin Loppu, Jake Broder, Arcola Theatre, Fabric-a-Brac and dancer Daniel Aing.SEAN WESTGATE - Technical Directoris Technical Director Green Hippo Ltd (www.green-hippo.com) developing hardware and software solutions for the professional events and theatre industries. The award winning media server Hippotizer was first released in 2004 and since has been pushing the boundaries of real-time image processing. The system is now well established internationally and can be seen on shows such as the latest Take That Tour, at the 83rd Academy Awards show, Cirque de Soleils Love and Believe shows in Las Vegas, with the BlueMan Group in various international cities and at many BBC shows like X-Factor.Sean has also collaborated with leading theatre and visual artists like Simon McBurney/Complicite (Strange Poetry, L.A.Philharmonic and Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts ), Colin Dunne (Out of Time at the Barbican) and visual artist Tim Knowles (Searchlight #1 London, Field of Play Bristol, www.timknowles.co.uk).JOANNA RAWLINSON - ProducerA Graduate of Rose Bruford School of Speech and Drama, Jo has developed a varied career as a Stage Manager, Production Manager and Producer. Working for a variety of theatre companies and artists including: Mountview Academy, The Kings Head, Krazy Kat, Greenwich and Lewishams Young Peoples Theatre, Nottingham Playhouse, Liz Bentley, Julie MacNamara and Caroline Parker.SEBASTIEN BRAUN - Illustrator (Visual Design "Planet of the Beetlebuns")Sebastien studied Fine Art and Applied Arts at Strasbourg University. He taught applied arts before becoming a freelance illustrator, first for editorial clients in Paris. He moved to London in 2000 where he developed his illustrations for children and since has been working exclusively on children's picture books. He has published works for HarperCollins, Boxer Books and Orchards Books. www.sebastienbraun.comSebastien now lives in Gloucestershire. ALISDAIR McGREGOR - Sound Designer ("Planet of the Beetlebuns")Alisdair is a sound engineer, editor and designer who has specialised in audio drama for the past 15 years, working for the BBC, the independent sector and co-running the media production company Holy Mountain. He has been a regular contributor for Resonance FM in London, the UK's first radio arts station. Alisdair is a visiting lecturer of Radio Drama, co-produces audio projects in prisons around London, with young people on the verge of exclusion from school, and with the Romany Gypsy travellers community in Cambridge. His goal is to encourage a widespread appreciation and realisation of the potential of sound, especially in story telling, as a major force in reaching people's imagination. al_holymountain.co.ukJAMES VALPY - video technicianJames is a Video Designer/Engineer and Lighting Technician. James studied BATP Production Lighting at Central School of Speech and Drama where he developed his lighting and video production skills and also developed a love for video design in the live performance context. James has strong links with the Green Hippo team having first used their Hippotizer product on his first show as Video Programmer. Recent work includes Associate Video Designer on "Beyonce Glastonbury 4 Tour", Hippotizer Engineer on "Chase & Status Tour" and Video Designer on NyB's "Ballet Chocolat" at Sadlers Wells.
