Frank Theatre launched in 2008 with little more to recommend it than a desperate need to stage Hamlet in an exciting, vivid way that captured the imagination of a modern audience. That, whilst also striving to somehow grasp by the balls what the playwright was getting at and deliver it loud and clear.
Certain criteria come into play with Frank Theatre. One is the collaborative process - working together in a group, sharing ideas and seeking the wisdom and inspiration of others and the world we live in now. Which means working with ordinary people of all ages and backgrounds as well as skilled performance artists. Theatre is not elitist.
Frank Theatre loves art, loves music, loves dancing and jumping around, loves exquisite visuals and experiments. It also invites new people to be involved in the process each time, so we can gain fresh insights. In short, it rules nothing out. As long as it strives to get to the heart of the writing.
The works Frank stages are sacred - to be handled with extreme care, and hard work. Revolutionary and ground-breaking? You decide - but so far some ideas have provoked extreme opinions. It is pivotal that the play suits the venue, and that the production is more than 'just another play', or else what's the point, quite frankly? Please get in touch if you wish to create something.
