A mother, an entrepreneur and above all a woman with the sensitivity and talent to transform what she touches on a work of art.
After a long time dedicated to the demands of the business world, in 2003, Thamara decided to take a break from everything and pay tribute to the sea. Inspired by the waves and their incessant collecting and moulding of materials, she found in the art of the goldsmith the vehicle to express her creativity.
Semiprecious stones, coral, pearls, silver and gold (to name a few) are just part of the materials that make up the exotic creations of this Venezuelan artist.
For years Thamara Franco travelled around the world, always observing the colours, tendencies and styles of different cultures fusing what she saw and felt into her creations always being renewed by every new experience.
In 2008 her travels brought her to Dublin where the magic of this city, its art and its history filled her with new sensations until she surrendered to falling in love with Ireland. Like a first love, Dublin awoke familiar emotions inducing the creation of this outstanding new jewellery collection available now in 2011.
"The most beautiful thing in life," Thamara says, "is doing the things that bring you joy, the things that seem to stop time... those things that while doing them, you're transported to a special place ...to a magical moment."
Sometimes she spends hours immersed in her art without realising the time or reality of her surroundings weaving a story in a jewel... expressing a "moment" in each and every new collection.
Tribute to the Sea has its roots firmly attached in the Tropics. The Caribbean Sea and its exotic close to the Land cultures are a rich source of constant inspiration to me. Materials such as pearls, mother of pearl, corals and quartz combined with gold and silver, enriched my inspirations with a romantic and seductive energy.
This collection brings to mind the enigma of lands lost in time. The Strong colors from semiprecious stones; turquoise, jade and amethyst (just to mention a few) and the use of precious metals such as gold and silver make this collection exotic, cheerful and magical at the same time.
The essence of this collection can be found in Modern and Contemporary European art. Kinetic and abstract in nature, these creations explore movement and tranquility. Mainly composed of metals such as copper and silver, these designs represent a balance between motion and stillness. Sometimes these designs are minimalist in intent, other rare conversational pieces, but they are always unique and elegant.
