False rumour: "UK Healers is to disband!"
Mahatma Gandhi said: "Be the change you want to see in the world."
"if things don't change, they stay the same" which is why UK Healers is constantly evolving to meet the needs of healing for the future, building on the foundations of its achievements of the last ten years which have come through unity and vision.
UK Healers are aware that there has been a misunderstanding regarding the evolving changes taking place within the organisation and that there are unfounded 'rumours' circulating as a result. We wish to assure you that in harmony with the changing world, UK Healers remains committed to serve the public, healers and member organisations and will continue to do so long into the future.
Our independence as a single therapy standard setting and regulatory body ensures that our focus will always remain dedicated to Healing and the protection of the public and the promotion and development of Healers Training and high standards of healing practise. We are not dependant on external funding, but on the continued dedication and commitment of healers and their organisations.

From Anne Milton MP
Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Public Health
Healing in the NHS
The CNHC is a voluntary registration body whose register is open to complementary therapy practitioners from a range of complementary and alternative disciplines. Regulation, whether statutory or, as in the case of the CNHC, voluntary, is about public protection and the Department supports the work of the CNHC is doing to enhance public safety.
I understand that the CNHC’s register is not open to the healing profession as yet, although I understand that the CNHC is currently in discussion with the profession and hope that, once standards are in place, the register will be open to healers in early 2011. Therefore, it is not a requirement, or a prerequisite of the Department that healers should be registered with the CNHC. Even when the CNHC register is open to healers in the future, healers will not be obliged to join, as the register is voluntary.
With regard to your point about hospitals considering the CNHC as a ‘centrally recommended prerequisite for healing in hospitals’, it is the responsibility of individual primary care trusts or hospitals to choose which practitioners they refer patients to and the Department does not get involved in these decisions. There is nothing to prevent healers who do not wish to register with CNHC from practising either in hospitals or anywhere else. However, the decision on whether to choose a CNHC registered practitioner or not lies with the individual Trust or hospital.
