After working for 20 years "driving a desk in a paper company where I performed management duties, I was laid off in '08. During those years I started dabbling in desktop publishing and graphic design and used those skills in different projects for the company. I found I really enjoyed putting my creativity to work.
Somewhere along the way, I found out about digital cameras and picked up a simple point and shoot Kodak. I fell in love with it due to it's simplicity of processing the images, from saving to printing. No more buying film! Instead I had instant access to what I just shot.
I started using the camera to just add images to those projects I worked on. Everything started coming together so nicely that it opened up other areas for me to start focus on. Focus! Get it? Pun intended!
As I learned more about my camera and what images I could produce with it, so too did my "Eye" grow and develop.
Since being laid off, I have gone into a totally different field of work. I put myself through school and became a Certified Nurse Assistant. I am proud of doing this for myself.
But, with all the changes I have gone through in my life over the last few years, photography has continued to be an essential part of who I am. I continue to hone my skills, to grow and see the world around me with a different Eye. I strive to become a better photographer, but I know that there will always be more to learn.
