About American Racket
American Racket (Dance Company) features the sights and sounds of one of our, well, noisiest traditions... American Clogging and percussive dance! Productions feature some of the finest dancers in the country in a celebration of (loud) living traditions. These dancers have represented the United States in Brazil and Costa Rica and have opened for artists cuch as Bill Cosby, Sugar Ray, Ted Koppel, Dane Cook, Jimmy Lovelace, and Wayne Brady. American Racket is a guaranteed toe-tapping, hand-clapping good time for all and a celebration of what young adults are doing to revive and reinvent the dance culture of the United States.

about us
About the Director, Andy Howard
Andy Howard started clogging, along with his sister and cousins, in LaBelle, Flordia, in 1988. As a youth member of Sidekick Cloggers, Andy got his start performing professionally for special events, festivals, and featured entertainment at theme parks. In 1998, Andy enrolled at the University of Florida in Gainesville and founded SoundStage Cloggers in 2001 which was the foundation for American Racket, renamed in 2007. Andy has a master's degree in American Dance Studies from Florida State University where he directed and published thesis research on American Team Clogging.
As a dance instructor specializing in American clogging, folk, and percussive dance forms, Andy has organized and taught courses for credit at Florida State University, and has been a featured instructor for Florida Dance Festival and the National Clogging Convention (clog, inc.). As a guest instructor and choreographer, Andy has taught and presented at University of Florida, Florida Folk Festival, Douglas Anderson School for the Arts, and Santa Fe College.
Andy's performance credits include professional experience as an entertainer at Walt Disney World Resort. Andy has performed with the male clogging ensemble "All That" in the Carolina Opry in Myrtle Beach and with American Racket and other ensembles for clients and venues including International Folklore Festival of Passo Fundo-Brazil, Goodyear Tires, Dollywood, Silver Dollar City, National Home Builders Association, SeaWorld Orlando, HardRock Casino, The Club at Firestone, Orlando Weekly, Parliament House Resort, Pulse Nightclub, The Food Network's Great American Pie Festival, and University of Florida's Gator Growl for five years.
As a professional arts administrator, Andy has worked as Marketing Manager for Orlando Repertory Theatre (in partnership with University of Central Florida), and various roles including Director of Public Relations, Education, and Community Relations for Orlando Opera Company. Currently, Andy manages Alumni Affairs and Marketing for the College of Fine Arts at University of Florida.
