How to add quality content to your Flash website that will keep your readers smiling.

Market Yourself Socially

How do you make a website stand out in a crowd? This article will cover how to drive site traffic via a few of the top free promotional vehicles such as Facebook.

In today's wired world, it is not enough to create your own website. That website has to be put on a pedestal for the masses to see. One of the most optimum ways to achieve this goal is via the use of Social Media Marketing. Using such sites as Twitter you too can be an effective marketer. Best of all, this way of marketing is available for free.

Don't Just Stand There. Promote it!

There is a misguided notion that exists that if you create a website, people will come. This cannot be further from the truth. The good news is that much like using a free website builder, it does not have to be a financial burden. By using social networks such as MySpace, Twitter and Facebook you can reach out to targeted audiences with ease by sharing information and getting involved in the conversation.

Promoting your website doesn't have to be via the use of hard-selling. This type of selling is more reserved for advertising tools like Google AdWords. Promotion of your website via the use of Social Media is about getting your website noticed by placing it in front of a diverse yet targeted audience that is not forceful or imposing.

Your Website is only as Good as the Content it Serves

While promoting your website through the use of Social Media Marketing is an effective strategy, the design of your website and the published content are key in attracting visitors. This is the case no matter how much time and/or money you spend in promoting it. It will just be a waste of time. Think about it. Why would anyone come to your website that sells toys for infants, if all they see on your homepage are photos of horses? Sure. You love horses. But, this is not where it belongs. Readers of content have less of an attention span than readers of print. Keep it relevant, short and clear. Even if the promotional strategies are free, they are time-consuming. Be sure that you are up to the task and dedicate the time to keep the content ticking. Promotion is not a straight shot to website stardom. It can take months and even years to get the right combination. If your strategy doesn't seem to be working, refine it. You'll get it right.

Vehicles of Promotion

The channels for promotion are always growing in number and reach. For example, it was just released that if Facebook was a country, it would be the third largest in the world. Think about how much time you have to dedicate to the promotion task. Think about your target audience. Would you use Twitter, Facebook or MySpace? Or all three?

Promotion via the Tweet

If you can figure out a way to pack your messages into 140 character packages, then perhaps Twitter is right for you. Over the past few years it has become increasingly more popular as a tool for promotion. It is extremely simple to use and the search engine allows you to hone in on relevant conversations where you can promote your message.

Target and Reach the World via Facebook

While it certainly helps to have a Facebook account with a lot of friends, you can start from scratch. First what you want to do if you don't already have an account is to to open one. Next create a group with a relevant name. Once you have done that with all the relevant content (including images) and information you can invite your friends. Either you have friends already or you can invite them by email. Adding a personal note is a recommended so that it does not seem like spam.

Now that you have done that, you can spend time on updating your status daily with messages you want your groups members to see and add or change content every few days. Your website should also be prominently visible. Much like a blog is linked to a website, the group page should be as well. Study your visitor's reactions, comments and refine your strategy as needed.

One day you'll be able to just sit back and watch your membership grow - increasing traffic to your website, sales, and moving you up to the top of search pages.
