Affinity Photography
I want to be involved in documenting the most important milestones in your life. This is very personal, it seems only right to let you know who I truly am...
Who I am
Affinity Photography is owned and operated by Kimberli Smith. I take pride in my work. I know that I am great at what I do. Every time I press my finger down on the shutter button I convinced that I am creating a work of art that will live well past my existence. I want to be involved in documenting experiences that we can never get back as life continues on. This is very personal to me and I show it in my work. I believe I was born with a creative eye, and my clients appreciate it. I bring personality to the table and help others show theirs through treasured portraits.
In working with a Photographer personality is very important. You must feel comfortable, relaxed and enjoy the person you are with so your personality can shine. To give you an idea of who I am you should know that I am my best friend, I believe in myself, I am not uptight, I am a perfectionist, sometimes too critical of my work. I was raised to respect my elders and love my children. I have a wonderful support system.
I reward myself through community services. Every feasible opportunity I have I give to support the community. I am the Area Coordinator for the Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep Foundation, serving as a Volunteer Photographer and liaison between area Hospitals and other Volunteer Photographers.
I am also a member of the Professional Photographers of America(PPA) and Baytown Chamber of Commerce. This year I have plans on joining the Wedding and Portrait Photographers International (WPPI) and the Houston Chapter of the PPA.
My life with Photography
Ok So I am sure you are wondering right now Why should I choose you... what do you have to offer me. First off, I have always loved Photography. I received my first camera an Olympus on Christmas when I was 6 years old(yes I remember how old I was). I can't count how many I have owned since. In Highschool I was able to expand my creativity in Journalism, a class where they actually issued you a camera instead of a book! After Highschool I went on to College and studied to be an Addiction Counselor. I will say that I loved my career choice but could not turn away from my passion.
In 2005 I have my oldest daughter to thank for my redirection in life. When she was 3 years old we signed a contract with Model Management Group (MMG NYC)! After going through different Photographers for her Comp Cards (kinda like a models business card), I threw up my hands, because I couldn't believe the lack of standards and creativity to think outside the box these people had. After much encouragement from friends, and skepticism from family, I dove in head first. Since, I have developed a very personal relationship with my clients. Most of my clients are referrals and the ones that aren't have since referred me to their friends and family.
Trainings etc
I have attended workshops of Master Photographers to learn their tips and tricks with many more to come, staying on top of this ever changing business. I enjoy so many aspects of Photography. It is much deeper than taking pictures. I enjoy the ART of photography. Freezing a moment, regardless of how passionate it is and making you feel the same feelings all over again when you look lifelong keepsakes. I have found something that, to me, has endless possibilities with creativity and allows me to become a part of so many families. I am very passionate about my work and I will always give 110%. There are no other options..
I am an active member of the PPA (Professional Photographers of America) and WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Photographers International) . I am constantly expanding my horizons. Memberships to these organizations gives me the opportunities and resources to offer you the most up to date trends and techniques!
I am also a member of the Baytown Chamber of Commerce and Highlands/Lynchburg Chamber of Commerce.
