I am an artist and designer maker working with textiles., based in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. I use a combination of screen printing and embroidery to create unique pieces of work. I take inspiration from collections of anything and everything, but it always begins with searching for a stash of lovely things to draw from.
I work to commission, and also provide talks, demonstrations and workshops illustrating the techniques I use to create my work, for further details, click on the Workshops section of my site.
If you want to see examples of my work click on the Portfolio section, and to see my work for real, click on the News section for forthcoming events and exhibitions that I am involved in.
If you require any further information that you can't find on my webiste, please get in touch using the Contact page.
You can also follow me on my Blog for day to day happenings in the studio.
Embroidered Panel
Working with textiles, primarily screen printing and stitch, I studied for a degree in Surface Design and Textiles and am currrently working towards an MA in Textiles at Manchester Metrpolitan Univeristy.
I work in my studio, Radiant Works, which is in Huddersfield Town Centre, aprox 5 mins walk from the train station, where I create my pieces for exhibitions and also provide private workshops for adults. I also teach on various textiles courses in colleges and universities.
Layering fabrics, bonding them, stitching them together and creating textures in the surface by altering the structure of the fabric are techniques that I particularly enjoy. I love a frayed edge and a loose stitch, an imperfection.
Full day workshops held at my studio in Huddersfield are currently charged at an introductory rate of £45 per person. Please contact me to book on one of the dates or if you require further information.
This is a print workshop for beginners, who may have always wanted to try print processes on fabrics, but have not been sure where to start. Starting with antique maps and aerial photography for inspiration, this workshop will introduce you to a variety of mark making techniques to create patterns and designs to take through into machine stitch.
