Courtenay Field is an up and coming vocalist with a passion for the arts. This dream erupted at the young age of four, when Courtenay joined the “Main Street Theatre Company”. After participating in “Peter Pan” and “Alice in Wonderland”, she realised that her true passion was for singing. She began to take vocal lessons and recorded covers such as ‘I’ll Try’ by Johnatha Brooke and ‘I’ll Be There’ by the Jackson 5.
Courtenay then began to train under Irene Illic studying foreign, classical, broadway, jazz and pop styles. Courtenay entered the Newmarket Voice Festival and the Lions Festival from 2005 – present and received numerous bursaries and best of class awards. She competed at the Celebration of the Arts, was awarded a bursary and was also asked to sing for the Celebration of the Arts launch as one of the accomplished winners. Courtenay has had the privilege of singing at Polo for Heart, Kingfest and Stratford to name a few. While competing, she also takes time to focus on her classical training and is currently working towards her Grade 7 RCM certificate.
Courtenay loves her hometown and has had the honour of singing for many of the town’s functions including the Aurora Civic Awards, Music in the Park, Canada Day Appreciation, Leadership Award Ceremony, Prince of Wales – Municipal Heritage Awards and of course The Aurora Jazz+ Festival! This is Courtenay’s 3rd year at the festival and she looks forward to many more. Courtenay always says “Hard work turns dreams into reality.”
