The world has been coming to China in an increasing rate since the days of Deng Xiaoping and the opening of the countrys doors in 1978. Since then, Chinas rise to economic and political power has been nothing less than historic. Chinas rise has corresponded with its global ambitions. It hosted the Olympic Games in 2008 and organized the 2010 World Expo. China is the most populous nation in the world, the second largest economy in purchasing power terms, third largest trader, and gaining ground in foreign direct investments and M&A, and international resource acquisitions. The development of the Chinese MNC is a new feature of globalization, one that will undoubtedly change the geopolitical landscape. The China Goes Global research initiative investigates some emerging questions related to Chinas globalization: Why do Chinese firms internationalize, how do they do so, and what is the impact of Chinese firms and institutions internationalization on other nations?
Until now, there are only a few publications focusing on the expansion and activities of Chinese firms abroad. With the China Goes Global (TM), initiative, Jacobs University, Rollins College, Harvard University and Georgia Tech (CIBER) conduct a collaborative research program to analyze the structure and the inherent problems of this topic, and to give answers to these questions from a variety of stakeholder perspectives - corporate, governmental and non-governmental decision makers as well as researchers.
The outcomes of this project so far have included the organization of several international conferences since 2006, the book China Rules: Globalization and Political Transformation (Palgrave McMillan, 2009), a Special Issue in Chinese Management Studies Journal (2009), and a a Special Issue iin the Thunderbird International Business Review (2012), as well as multiple journal articles and book chapters.
The organizers are also happy to announce the establishment of the Chinese Globalization Association (CGA) in 2011 to provide another venue to support and encourage a variety of activities on the topic. Please join our group.

Overview
In the face of global economic turmoil over the past few years, Chinas role in the world economy has continued to expand. In 2010, China overtook Germany as the worlds largest trading country. In 2011, China replaced Japan as the worlds second largest economy. Within five years, China may produce a larger share of world GNP than the United States. Chinas globalization has fundamentally changed its socio-political, physical and economic links with the rest of the word, and China has emerged as a leader in trade and investment.
China has achieved much economic success, but it also faces numerous challenges that can seriously hinder its long-term development. Chinas fast economic growth is unbalanced and, perhaps, unsustainable. Chinas governance still lags behind on many indicators, the rule of law is not secure, voice and accountability are weak.
In this context, we announce the sixth international conference examining the multi-faceted aspects of Chinas globalization. We seek papers and presentations that combine multi-disciplinary approaches to analyze different aspects of Chinas businesses, economic, social, legal environments, political systems, and ethical and social structures.
Topics that will be considered for inclusion

We encourage completed papers but also accept works-in-progress papers and roundtable discussion proposals reflecting a range of theoretical and practical perspectives on the globalization of China and Chinese institutions, firms and people. We also encourage recent book authors of China-related book to submit a proposal to present their findings and insights.
Submitted papers will be double blind reviewed for consideration in the conference. Please submit your paper through our online submission system no later than 1. April, 2012 . Papers need to follow the submission guidelines here . By submitting a paper, authors also agree to review up to 3 papers. The best papers from the conference will be recognized and considered for publication in a book volume or a special issue.
The conference provides an ideal opportunity for scholars and practitioners, as well as Ph.D. students to share and discuss their most recent high quality work with other experts in this research field. Depending on the quantity and quality of accepted papers, an edited book or special issue in a journal are planned.
