Our Story
Eco-Fashion with a PassionNayane Fashion is a brand new clothing line created by fashion designer genius, Polish-born, Canadian, Dorota Alimowska and fashionista, Ferial Puren. Nayane is an ECO RANGE for ladies and girls aged 3 and up. The duo teamed up to create an affordable, environmentally friendly fashion range for a range of women, regardless of their budget, body shape or taste. There is a little something for everyone. The passion behind this fashion is an opportunity to raise awareness and much needed funds for an amazing Children's Home, Footprints. in South Africa. This is more than just a place where kids are warehoused, it's a place where 35 children have a home and a Mom and Dad. This amazing place was birthed by the Zafiropoulos family in South Africa who felt that children need more than a roof over their heads and food to become the people that they have been created to be. Restaurateur, Terry Z and his Pastor Wife, Yolanda and their four children, overnight went from being a typical middle class South African family to being a family to so many of South Africa's abandoned children. Footprints did not start out as a Children's Home, it was a simply a home where more and more children just arrived. When the kids were just about popping out of the seams of their family home in Randburg, South Africa, the Zaphadofilis family finally decided that it was time to move to a small-holding. Footprints is a place where each child's creativity and individual potential is nurtured and encouraged, therefore Nayane has chosen to champion the Footprint's vision and play a part in changing these young lives forever. Both Alimowska and Puren acknowlege that while creating fashion is really fabulous and gets their creative juices flowing, being able to make a difference in even just one life is so much more valuable and rewarding than creating even the greatest masterpiece. Their Christian belief is also without doubt a compelling force behind their compassion. Alimowska, initially named the label after a young South American girl whom she sponsors. When she decided to sponsor her, she learnt that she wanted to be a top model when she grew up, so in honour of this dream she called the label Nayane. This has been the inspiration behind their Eco Range. It is not by chance that they conspired to restyle and re-create old or discarded garments, turning them into wonderful new creations that can grace the wardrobes of fashionable women in Edinburgh. The children at Footprints have also been discarded or abandoned by their parents and, to a degree, by society so that no one really expects them to amount to anyone significant. Yolanda and Terry Z beg to differ and now Nayane has joined them in their quest to prove everyone wrong. Every human being deserves the opportunity to become all that they have been created to be.The diversity of fabrics that they use to create their one of a kind masterpieces is also incredibly significance with deep symbolism as Puren explains that it spoke of how we all needed to celebrate our diversity because that diversity is what gives us strength as a society so that as each piece plays its part, together we form a fabulous mosaic of expression. Alimowska echoes this sentiment in her statement, "Footprints Kids need all of us to stand up for them, Nayane is just a mouthpiece."

About Ferial
More About..... Ferial Puren
I am a wife and mother to two beautiful daughters, Jayda & Kiara. My husband Ashley and I were born and bred in Cape Town, South Africa. I originally studied architecture and then found myself working in the administrative field for a very big Church in Cape Town. I then moved on to sales & marketing within the leisure sector and later financial or more specifically motgages. All the while my husband and I were beginning to find our way within the property market in South Africa and eventually establised our own property portfolio. We found that we were both very good at business, particularly property but later realised that we wanted more than just that so we joined a Christian Mission organisation and moved to Johannesburg where we conducted quite in depth research and I began to open up my mind to a whole new world of possibilities. I returned to study and became qualified as a life, career and business coach and this has set my life on a whole new trajectory. I now live and work in Edinburgh as a coach alongside various charities and I also run my own practice here in the city. So, round about now you would be asking so how does fashion tie in with all that. Well, I have always loved fashion and being creative is just apart of who I am so I never studied fashion but I found that I have a natural talent to be able to see what works and what does not, so I teamed up with Dorota and began to feed a few more of my passions. I love this collection cos it helps me to give life to the things I am passoinate about. People, the kids that we are helping through this project makes it so worth it for me and then there's the environment which I really believe that the earth is my inheritance that I need to protect it and how much better then reusing old clothes that was certainly headed for landfill. The cherry on the top is that I get to create fashion and the truth is that once the garment is complete I feel like I would like to wear it and so I am confident that we have created an eco range that all women will like.I really hope that our labour of love will bring hope to the children at Footprints and joy to those who wear our clothes as working on this collection has certailny given me both hope and joy.Ferial
