Fergal Flaherty Biography
Fergal Flaherty was born on the 8th of March 1971 in Longford Town, Ireland. At the age of six he moved with his Family to the east coast, where he spent the next sixteen years.
Settling in the seaside village of Bettystown Co. Meath and falling in love with his new surrounding of golden sand and crashing waves it didn't take long before he called Bettystown his home.
Completing his primary education in Laytown National School Fergal then went to the nearby town of Drogheda where he finished his secondary education with the Christian Brothers in St Joseph's C.B.S.
Fergal then furthered his education in the College of music Dublin studying percussion. Whilst studying in Dublin Fergal was working in a Men's boutique in Drogheda called Mansworld.
With having a very understanding boss and a great working atmosphere Fergal was able to balance his Music and work. While working and studying Fergal had also set up his own one man band act around the pub's and club's of Drogheda, gradually he built himself a loyal following.
Then after a show one night Fergal was approached to work in an Irish bar in Mallorca and at the age of 22 he felt it was a great opportunity to see a different part of the world.
Fergal finished the summer of 93` season and after returning to Ireland for two week's he felt the itch to move again and then decided take a gamble and go to Tenerife.
Fergal became resident singer in the Irish Welcome Los Cristianos where he spent the summer of 94´ after completing his contract Fergal and his Wife Deirdre took a well deserved break to Ireland for two weeks that November.
On returning to Tenerife Fergal was asked by his Wife's boss Greg James to come and entertain in his bar called the Hole in the wall The bar got that busy that it was just too small to cope with the amount of clientele so Fergal and Greg decided to go into partnership in a bigger premises that is the Hole in the wall" Parque de la Paz, Las Americas as it is today.
Fergal Spent three years with his great friend Greg and the "Hole in the Wall" until March 1999 when he returned to Ireland to fulfill his lifetime ambition, recording his own album and touring.
In November Fergal recorded his debut album Don't think twice on the Tulip Record Label (Ireland) and was released in January 2000. From the success of the album toured extensively through Ireland, the U.K. Denmark, Europe and Australia.
After three years of touring Fergal decided to shorten his touring schedule and spend some valuable time with his Wife and young family so he returned to Tenerife. Even though he entertains to a full house 6 nights a week Fergal now has time to spend his day with his family.
Fergal returns to Ireland & the UK 2-3 Times a year for some live shows to cater for those Fan's who cannot make it to Tenerife to catch his live show.
While in the U.S.A in April 2002 Fergal fulfilled his dream of visiting and recording in Nashville Tennessee. He got in touch with one of Nashville's finest musicians and producers Mike Headrick and they recorded a great 12 track country CD. Nine of the tracks are original songs written by Fergal.
After cutting down on his touring and returning back to Tenerife Fergal put the release of the album on hold until June 2006.
The album is called Everything you do and is released on the Tulip Record label it's a must for those who like to hear something fresh and new.
Fergal’s new album Pass it on was released in January 2010 and has been a major success, all songs except one were either written or Co-written by Fergal. Track 4 No1’s in Heaven reached No 1 in the Country charts in Norway and No 15 in the European Country music charts (ECMA). Track 2 Remember Me has been recorded and released by Ireland biggest selling artist Daniel O’Donnell on his 2010 Christmas album Oh Holy Night. Track 7 Home at the Hole in the wall is a song Fergal wrote about the pub he Co-owns and entertains in 6 nights a week. It’s a big hit on YouTube and is currently a big hit on Sky TV’s Hot Country Channel 201.

Over the last few years I have done a couple of shows in The Brook House Hotel Soham Cambridgeshire with my great friends Daniel O'Donnell and Bob Brolly. Each show raised just under €30,000 and all proceeds went to Daniel's Romanian Orphans appeal. A number of years back there was a documentary on R.T.E about Daniel and his Romanian Challange appeal and the video footage was a real eye opener, so much so I wrote a song about the work Daniel was doing and what it mean't to the Orphans. The song is called "Daniel's Angels" and is attached to the slide show above of the Romanian Orphans. To find out more about the appeal and Daniel log on to www.danielodonnell.com
