Zombie Churches are churches where God might be taught, but He is not attending
There is something missing in the church today. Stuck in a rut of routines and rituals, the church is caught up in doing what it is "supposed to do" but is lacking the true essence of what it is supposed to provide: life. Real faith--and a real relationship with Jesus--is not about playing by the rules, attending services, and praying before meals. Real faith is more than religion.
Tyler Edwards graduated from Ozark Christian College with bachelors degrees in both Biblical Literature and Christian Ministry. His wife Erica is a broadcast journalism instructor. He has spoken at various campus ministry events in Missouri and served overseas in Mbale, Uganda. Now the lead pastor at Cornerstone Christian Church in Joplin Missouri.

For those not into Zombie movies here is what we are talking about: the body of a dead person given the semblance of life, but mute and will-less, by a supernatural force, usually for some evil purpose. A zombie is essentially a dead body that imitates life.
So what do zombies have to do with the church? In some cases there are some notable similarities between the two: zombies fake life, they don't produce anything, and they terrorize the living. Some churches who have lost their connection to the source of life will behave in much the same way holding onto policies and traditions but taking their focus off of Jesus
While there are currently a number of books complaining about everything that is wrong with the church today and many Christians leaders encouraging us to abandon the sinking ship the purpose of Zombie Church is to remind us the beauty and value of the church and to restore the church to what she was intended to be.

I LOVE THIS BOOK! Tyler Edwards is a gifted writer who explains things without all those big words that you have to be in deep thought about. He's very creative. This book will definitely open your eyes. Whether, you're the zombie or you belong to a fellowship of zombies. There is a transformation process that the author talks about. You don't turn into a zombie over night. There is a lot of self reflection and thought provoking things going on in this book. I recommend you get this book and read it for yourself. This book really gets back to the basics of serving Christ and living like Jesus wants us to. Things we know, but need to put into action. VERY GOOD BOOK!!!
-- Michele at My Life & Kids Library
This is a powerful read, full of hope and challenge for the church to come to life, rise up out of its pews, and be the glorious bride of Christ we are called to be. Zombie Church is 'dead on.'

Whether you are a pastor, church staff, leader, member, or frequent attender I recommend that you take a moment to read this book. You will want to make sure you know the symptoms so that you can diagnose this disease early on for the longer it lives within your congregation the more people it could infect.
